Hey there I'm having trouble following the instructions for your tutorial to change your boot screen. I downloaded the Resorce Hacker and followed each step. Now, because I have Photoshop 7, I downloaded the ACE file but dont know how to open that particular file up. It opens PS7 and I dnt know if it has done the thing its suppose to do/theres a particular way on how to load the file. My images still look black but in your tutorial you can see Windows XP blah blah... Can anyone help me cos I have a wkd desing for a bootup  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' /> I'll keep checking back to see if ne one helped me if not I'll find out somehow  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

step 1
Open the image in adobe photoshop 7.
step 2
Click  Image> Mode> Color Table
step 3
Load the 16.act file

You should be able to see the picture now.
But this is where i get stuck.. After editing the picture and saving it, the resource hacker wont accept it as a valid bmp file.. i think this has to do with the fact that in adobe i couldnt select 'Maintain Indexes' as the tutorial suggested.
Help with this matter would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same exact problem. I'm trying to follow that tutorial but cannot find out how to "maintain indexes" in Photoshop 7. I am also getting the same error when I try to Replace the .bmp in the ntsokrnl.exe file with ResHacker.

Any help?

TIA, coax
