SATA A7n8x deluxe XP install problem
« on: June 27, 2004, 05:22:38 PM »
Hi guys,
I've read a bunch of threads in here with instructions on making floppies in order to install XP on a SATA drive. I have one containing:si3112r.sys, sisupp.vxd, si3112r.inf, si3112r.mpd, txtsetup.oem, sataraid.GID, Res409.dll.

After pressing F6 i get the Serial Si3112r  RAID controller selection option. Press enter. The next message is:  "File si3112r.sys caused an unexpected error (4096) at line 2108 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c"  and install quits.

Hardware:
AMD 3200+
A7N8x deluxe MOBO
Maxtor 200gb SATA drive
1gig RAM
radeon 9800XT

Have tried just about everything, but this has me foxed  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> . Do i need some sort of wierd directory structure on the floppy for the inf. to function?

Any help much appreciated
Thanks, Nick

For the little its worth, I am having exactly the same problem. Ive tried with the latest Promise Raid drivers from the website, as well as the ones on the CD that came with the motherboard. No luck. Im considering buying an IDE hdd for windows. Its pathetic, but im really fed up with it! Whats more, everyone on the internet (literally everyone) seems to have problems installing XP on SATA drives (maybe its just the idiots). You would have thought Microsoft would get the idea and 1) make it easier, 2) do away with the need for floppy drives.

I solved the problem using an older version of silcon drivers for.
Try these ones : http://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/ide/...icon_v10033.zip
