DVD drive is killing my Floppy?

http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> Here is a strange one, I have a Gateway Solo 2500 laptop computer on which I just installed Windows XP Home Edition.  I have a Toshiba DVD/CD-RW combo drive (SD-R2312) which I intend to use with this computer, but I used another old Toshiba CD-ROM drive (XM-1502B) for the installation because my BIOS won't recognize or boot from my DVD drive.  Once I installed XP, I removed the old CD drive and put in my DVD drive in instead, XP recognized the drive and installed the drivers and everything is working great in XP.  Everything that is, except for my Floppy A: drive.  When my DVD drive is installed my A: drive vanishes from XP, and isn't recognized or able to boot from it at startup.  When I put the CD-ROM drive in instead, everything is ok, my A: drive is there and works fine, and I can boot from both drives at startup.  My computer BIOS won't recognize my DVD drive and says there is no drive, but my old CD-ROM is recognized when I put it in.  My best guess is that because the DVD and Floppy drives share the same connection ribbon on the inside, and the DVD dive is the middle one between the motherboard and the floppy, the computer is stopping at the DVD not being recognized and totally ignoring the floppy, Any Ideas? Any help would be much appreciated, Thank you. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'B)\' />
