directx 9.0c error message
« on: November 09, 2004, 11:15:22 PM »
When installing directx 9.0C I get a message:  directx did not copy a required file. I've searched and searched.  I've called microsoft.  I'm all updated on drivers from Radeon and microsoft.
Can anyone help?
I have ME.

Not sure if this will be any help, but it has helped a few people getting games like Sims2 to work
First off, your video card will have to be compatible, that's up to you to find out if it is..

Next: uninstall Directx with DirectX Eradicator
Here's a link
http://www.voodoofiles.com/3117
Be sure to Restart your computer once removed

After it's been uninstalled visit Window updates
Here's a link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en
Download directx 9c
Before installing
Be sure to shut down all other open windows
Close down all Antivirus software and any Spyware Protection software
Such as Spybot Tea Timer or Ad-Awares Ad-Watch
You can close down all unneccesaries in your task manager

Install Direct X
Restart your computer

I had the same problem. It`s because you are missing some dll files from windows\system. The files are from PCHealth : Atrace.dll, Pchprov.dll, Restorrc.dll, Sfc.dll, Sfpdll.dll, Smgr.dll. You can download them from: http://www.dll-files.com/ and put them in c:\windows\system.  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

I'm having the same problem. I have all those dll files, except pchprov.dll is in the windows\system\wbem folder.
