Slow Printing....
« on: July 11, 2001, 08:21:27 AM »
I have a user on Windows 2000 that has major problems printing.  The first print job of the morning or after a reboot work fine but any other print job just sits in the queue for what seems like an eternity before it gives me the basic \"Print Error\" in the Queue.  Does anyone have any ideas as to what can be wrong with it?

brew me a cup. we\'re here for the long haul
if at first you dont succeed, call it version 1.0

Check the spool setting in the Printer setup ?

make sure spool print job before printing is ticked
if it is tick the other ?

And most of all CHECK YOUR PHYSICAL CONNECTIONS

Check for driver updates.
I have a hpt45 that takes forever to initialize.
It always works fine though.

I once had a very similar problem with an old HP Deskjet 540(?).  It would constantly give me errors similar to yours.  I checked all printer spool settings and what not to no avail, and sending it over to a friends for testing, it worked flawlessly.  I figured it might be the parallel port that was the problem but after purchasing a new Epson Color Stylus 740, and using the same parallel port, I haven\'t had any problems and I was never able to figure out why the HP stopped functioning.  I even sent it out to HP for a free repair and it still didn\'t function so i just gave up on it eventually.  Go figure!
