Let's take a closer look
Can you please download Hijackthis 1.99
mportant: Create a Permanent folder for Hijackthis
Double Click "MY Computer"
Open your C: drive
Click "File" >>> "New" >>>> "Folder"
A new folder will be created, name it HJT

Now you will have C:\HJT

Download Hijackthis from HERE or HERE
Save it to that new folder

Do a System scan and Save logfile
copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Follow the instructions posted http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php/topic/22942-please-read-how-to-post-logs-from-frst/\'>Click Here

Can you print out these instructions or save them to a notepad file on your desktop
I need you to restart into safe mode in the near future and stay disconnected from the Internet

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
Ensure you have this version, or the Professional series
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates online link and Connect to download the latest updates
Don't run it yet, but check for updates now

===Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad) hit Enter
Copy the contents of the Quote box to notepad
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
Important>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fix.reg

Save this file on the desktop, well need this later, don't run it yet
This will help to Restore your url searchooks that are reported missing and remove the 015 entries

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.awmdabest.com

If you didn't purposely install the next one, fix these entries too
O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\IEExtension.dll

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
YES and exit Hijackthis

Double click on fix.reg and allow it to merge to the registry

Restart your computer into Safe mode, you can do this by repeatably tapping the F8
key on the keyboard when the System is booting up
Or use the Instructions from this link
SAFE MODE

Navigate to your Temp folders  and delete the Whole contents of your Temp folders, or whatever you can but DON'T try and delete the Temp directories themselves
# C:\Windows\Temp\
# C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
# C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
# C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
# C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Local Settings\Temp\

Open Ad-Aware
Perform a Full system scan
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

RESTART your computer back to Normal Mode

Don't open a browser yet, instead access Internet Options via Control Panel
Under the Programs tab "Reset Web Settings"
Under the General tab--- Reset home page

To be on the safe side
Could you also
Do an online Virus scan at Rav's
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
When you access that link with Internet Explorer
click on the "To Continue without subsribing click here" link
It will load the activex and definition files

Ensure that all the top entries are checked
Autoclean--Inside Archives---Unpack Executables---Smart Scan

Then click the Scan my PC button

Let it completely finish scanning

Copy and Paste the results back here
Also
Post back a fresh hijackthis log afterwards and let me know if your still having problems

I did everything you suggested, to the letter and aparently there are viruses that neither Antivir nor Kaspersky can find. Seems odd. The fact that they are connected with system files and cant be cleaned is obviously a big concern.
Adaware didnt come up with anything and even ran spybot search and destroy and it came up with nothing but this online scan came up with a bunch as yuou will see. Im truly at a loss for what to do at this stage. Im running XP Pro with full administrative rights. NO service packs installed simply because I am on dialup.

Hi again Chris, could you first download this small download
This will help to clean out all your Temp folders, cookies, prefetch folder
Give the link time to load if it's busy
Windows CleanUp!
Install the program but don't run it yet

Print this out if you can or save it to a notepad file on your desktop for easy access
I want you to

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
The link will show you how, or simply repeatedly tap the F8 key when your system is starting up

In safe mode
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Search.
   2. Click All files and folders.
   3. In the "All or part of the file name" box, type, or copy and paste, the following file name:

      tftp*.*

   4. Make sure that "Look in" is set to "Local Hard Drives" or to (C:).
   5. Click More advanced options.
   6. Check Search system folders.
   7. Check Search subfolders.
   8. Click Search.
   9. Delete the files that are zero-bytes in size and contained within any folder whose name ends with "Startup."

Next:
Navigate to and try and delete those files that were identified as bad by Rav's
they are in bold
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\kminyypg.exe <--this file
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ltjjsdub.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\vbsybooh.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\vmmhczyx.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\vplkelpb.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\vpmyihuf.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\xhnhhuwe.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\xolcuiog.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\TFTP2640

After you have done the above open up CleanUp! and click on the Cleanup button
Let it scan for files, when it's done

Restart back into Normal mode and post back a fresh hijackthis log and let me know if your problems are resolved

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

I tried and tried and tried (around 20 times) to download that file but it goes to a page not found on each of the downlaod links available on the website. I did notice while deleting the tftp files that were zero bytes there were also tftp exe files as well. (just figured Id note this since I dont know wht they are anyway but they are in the system 32 dir.) But I did the manual cookie, Ie Cache temp files etc deletions and did as you suggested and here is the newest hijakthis log.

There's  are legitimate TFTP.exe file in the System32 folder
and the System32\Dllcache folder
There about 16.5 Kb in size>>Don't delete those

Do you see any others, if you do right click on them and find date created and file size

I really would like you to try that Windows Cleanup utility
May be a popupblocker disabling the download

That's ok
Can you try it from this link

Removed link now that you have it installed http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

You will have to Right click on the link and Copy the Shortcut
Paste it into IE's address bar and hit GO
Save the download to desktop and doubleclick on it to install it

Close down all browser windows <--just edited to add that
Again=Click the Cleanup button
Let it scan the computer for files and then Restart your computer to finish cleaning

Post back and let me know how things are running.....

I must be getting tired, I can't believe I missed this in your log
Not a big deal, just some cleanup

With all other windows closed you can have hijackthis fix this entry too

Click FIX CHECKED

You will have to restart your computer one more time

Post back a fresh log afterwards and let's make sure it's gone

Ran the cleanup program, ran hijack this and removed the BHO entry you said to remove, rebooted and ran hijak this again and heres the log.
BTW, Thank you so much for all of your troubles, I take it command.exe is NOT a system file?

Forgot all about command.exe
Yah, it's probably a Nasty trojan
I would like to identify exactly what it is related too

If you wouldn't mind
Could you go to this site
Give the link time to load if it's busy
http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/

Use the Browse button and navigate to Command.exe

right click on the file and choose Select
Then click the Submit button
Let it finish scanning and post back the scanner results back here

Make sure you hold onto Ad-Aware and check for updates every couple of weeks
and run a Smart System Scan, which is quicker
Do a Full System Scan once in awhile

Use CleanUp! to clean up your temp folders every couple of weeks
If you check out the options button, I like to disable Prefetch
Clean that folder out once every month or so....

Could you please download these utilities
This will help to prevent future infections
add extra security while
silently protecting you, without running in the background

SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==Link to Tutorial
Download link==Download link

With both check for updates every couple of weeks

Id like to but after all the changes we made, command.exe is gone from my c: directory, antivir comes up clean, adaware se comes up clean, spybot comes up clean, sopjos comes uip clean and noadaware comes up clean. I did a file search on the main c drive for command.exe and its gona and I searched using the extra options and have my computer set to show hidden system files and extensions so I dont know what happened to it. I KNOW for a FACT I personally did not delete it and none of my programs are set to automatically delete a file when detected. I'm baffled. I'm gonna do a search on the net for command.exe and see what comes up but after these last two days Im leery about doing that since zonealarm and my antivir didnt stop it from getting on my computer in the first place.

Once again though, thank you for all of your help, you really saved alot of data that I use for work and is irreplaceable, sure its backed up to dvd every week but still, even a few days loss is a huge loss. I though I knew alot about computers, I am truly humbled. Thanks for the links as well, gonna install em and add them to my security cd.

Good to hear Chris
Definitely install SpywareBlaster and IE-spyad
Consider them silent Spyware Blockers

Again, Hold onto Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spybot

NoAdware I'm not that keen on, it's off the Rogue list but I still don't suggest it

Just curious, is spybot right up to date
You can check that out by opening spybot and clicking on HELP>>ABOUT
I'm using a Beta version of Spybot so are versions will be different but your Latest detection update date should be 2004-12-17

Also, a little extra protection, Open Spybot>>Immunize>>OK>>Immunize at the top

By the way, I know that a lot of Ppls are a little worried about installing Service Pack 2

I suggest running a good AV thru your system to be sure you have no viruses

Clean the Spyware
Clean the Temp folders
Make sure that third party software is up to date--such as Zone Alarm
and Driver updates
Do a Disk Defrag
Go ahead and install it

But for those on dialup it's a bit of an overload---they do have a Free CD that ship in about 2 weeks

If you decide not to install it, you may want to still update to Service Pack 1a
This will provide a lot of Security fixes for Windows and IE

Here's a link
Here's a link
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...p1/default.mspx

If you still decide not to install the updates
I really suggest you try a safer browser, I use this one all the time
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

If you decide to install Mozilla Firefox and need a hand with it let me know
But please consider at least updating to Service Pack 1

I think I have a link to that exact problem, probably due to spyware on your computer

I've got to find it, I'll post it later
