Application Error
« on: December 28, 2004, 08:10:22 PM »
I am trying to open an .xls file off a floppy disk that was just modified on 12/26/2004 on a laptop.  I tried to open it up on a desktop computer but it just ran with no results.  I then brought it home to try to open it up on the last pc I had worked on it.  It now takes a long time to respond and the first response I receive is Mcshield.exe-Application Error: 'The exception unknown software exception (0xe0070001) occurred in the application at location 0x7c59ba9d.'  Then the next thing it tells me that the file cannot be opened.  Can anyone assist me in this dilemma and let me know if there is anyway to salvage my file on this floppy disk or if I have to recreate.

Thanks.

The .xls file is an excel file
Is Excel installed on the computer?
Don't try and open the file off the floppy disk, Copy it to the hard drive and then open it with Excel
If you don't have Excel on the machine your trying to view it with you will need
Excel Viewer

Or, If you don't have Microsoft Office installed on the computer you may want to check out Open Office

The second problem, is McAfee's right up to date
Have you checked for updates a their site?
Here's some more info
