Download DelDomains.inf
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf and save it to desktop

Another great utility to help clean your temp folders,cookies, prefetch folder, etc...
Windows CleanUp!
A small download, once it's installed
Don't run a scan yet

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad) hit Enter
Copy the contents of the Quote box to notepad
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as search.reg
Save it on the desktop
This will restore your default urlsearch hooks
Don't run it yet

    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Restart your computer into SAFE MODE

Find and delete these files or folders in bold if they exist

I Need help with this:desktop.exe (Desktop Search)
« Reply #4 on: January 10, 2005, 03:06:37 AM »
Still some leftovers to get

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll

I would fix this one too, up to you, but unneeded
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [LDM] C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BackWeb-8876480.exe
Or uninstall Backweb
Heres some more info
http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/B/Backweb.asp

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
YES and exit Hijackthis

RESTART your computer

You didn't appear to do everything http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Could you also
Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad) hit Enter
Copy the contents of the Quote box to notepad
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
Leave the Save as type as .txt
Name the file as find1.bat
Save it on the desktop

Quote
dir C:\WINDOWS\System32\?ttrib.exe /a h > files.txt
notepad files.txt

Double click on find1.bat
It will generate a txt file called files.txt
Post back the findings

And if you could, download the VX2 finder I gave you a link to and run the scan as I posted and post back the log, I assume it will be clean, but let's make sure

Also post back one last hijackthis log

If everything is running better, you should Disable System Restore---Restart your computer---Enable system Restore
This will clear all your restore points and ensure you don't restore any Nasties
Once Reenabled it will Create a Fresh Restore point
Link will show you how if unsure

To Prevent future attacks, you should  install these 2 free apps.
SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==Link to Tutorial
Download link==Download link
Scroll down and click on IE-SPYAD.EXE Free!

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks
Keep the link to IE-Spyad bookmarked so you can check for updates

« Reply #6 on: January 10, 2005, 08:51:13 PM »
Thanks for posting the files.txt log from find1.bat again
Sorry, your right, I must of missed it the first time
It came back clean

I still notice this one in your Hijackthis log
O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll

Can you do me a favor and
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

Make sure that this folder is gone
C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll <--the bolded folder

If it's there delete it

Stay in safe mode

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\mfiltis.dll

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
YES and exit Hijackthis

Restart back to Normal mode and post back one more hijackthis log, thanks

You can have Hijackthis fix this entry
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank

If everything is running smooth now you should disable system restore---restart your computer--enable system restore
This will clear all your restore points and ensure you don't restore any nasties
Once reenabled it will create a fresh restore point

Here's a link, just in case your unsure how to
http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/Disa...eSysRestore.htm

You should set up extra protection against future attacks

SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==Link to Tutorial
Download link==Download link
Scroll down and click on IE-SPYAD.EXE Free! or IE-SPYAD2.EXE Free!

Regular IE-Spyad for the individual user or IE-Spyad 2 for global protection(All users) on your computer
You only need one or the other

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks
Keep the link to IE-Spyad bookmarked so you can check for updates
SpywareBlaster, after every update just simply enable all protection

Hold onto Ad-Aware, check for updates every couple of weeks and run a scan
With Ad-Aware, you may choose to do a Smart system scan, it's a lot quicker
Ensure to do a Full System scan once in a while

hold onto Windows CleanUp! and clean those temp folders every couple of weeks
Best done after you first restart the computer
You may want to check it's options and uncheck Prefetch
You may want to choose that option once every couple of months

Not sure why you have to get into the Registry Editor but make sure your careful of anything you edit in there
You may be thinking of regedit

Thank you, I dowloaded SpywareBlaster and CleanUp! but not the other one. I think i've a good protection. For "Regedit" that was just to know why I can't go in the registery, now it works. So thank you again, I'll recommend The Tech Guide to everybody that have a problem!

Bye !
