Com Port problem
« on: January 11, 2005, 11:26:39 PM »
Hey Guestolo,

I am actually asking this question for a friend. He upgraded to windows 98SE, today. Now he can access the Web. When we do a check for new hardware it says Hardware is found but with problems, no interrupt request was set in the bios and com 2 was not enable in the BIOS. It says that it is running on COM 2 but he shows nothing but Com 1 in control panel, systems, device drivers, ports....
We went to the BIOS on his Compaq computer but can not find away to enable COM 2 ... can you help? Thanks

HE CANT ACCESS the web.

Well, not sure if this is much help
But check out this link
An understanding of what to look for

http://www.taltech.com/TALtech_web/support...sht/badport.htm

In the bios you may want to look for something like
Integrated Peripheral or Advanced Peripheral. You want to look for COM2 or On Board Serial Port  as examples
Set to Auto or Enabled
