Enter your task manager( right click the bottom task bar and choose Task Manager)
End process on this
P2P Networking.exe

Go into your Add/Remove Programs and remove
P2P Networking>>>Usually added on by file sharing programs such as Kazaa
It's a totally useless addon that can cause decrease in system performance and slow down your surfing
If prompted to remove Altnets, allow it

I would also Remove MyWay or MySearch bar or similiar entries in the Add/Remove programs

Please Restart your computer if anything removed

When your back in Windows
Could you please go to this link
http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/ and scroll down to
Registry Search Tool
Download,UNZIP and run "RegSrch.vbs"
Copy and paste this in the dialog box:
{8893DE91-7857-479B-BFFC-3D5B7155F327}

Click OK
After a while a prompt will come up.(About 10 seconds)
Click OK to open in Notepad or Wordpad
 Post back the results that are found

Also post back a fresh hijackthis log, thanks

EDIT>>Let me know if your having problems with your Desktop too

Download and UNZIP to a folder Hoster by Toadbee
We'll need this later

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
Ensure you have this version or the paid version
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
When you Install Ad-Aware it may Update and start running a scan
Please ensure it's updated but don't run a scan yet

Print this out or save to a Notepad file on the desktop
Also know how to start in safe mode, I'm going to ask you to do so shortly, if your unsure, I supplied a link below
Disconnect from the Internet

I'm going to ask you to edit the Registry, please make a fresh restore point
Go to START>>All Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>System Restore
Create a Restore point
Name it and click Create
This is just to ensure you have a backup from this point on

Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

# Open Registry Editor. Click Start>Run, type REGEDIT
, then press Enter.
# In the left panel, expand(+) the following
+HKEY_CURRENT_USER
+Software
+Microsoft
+Internet Explorer
+Desktop
+Components
# Still in the left panel, locate and Right click on and delete the subkey:
0 <--this key, don't delete anything else
# Close Registry Editor.

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

Find and delete these files or folders if they exist
C:\WINDOWS\System32\spoolsrv32.exe <--this file, exact spelling
C:\WINDOWS\System32\runoledb32.exe <--file

If you find any of these related to Smart security, remove them also
Let me know if you found any
Using Windows Explorer and/or Search, locate and delete the following files
they are in bold >>>Not all may exist, but are related too Smart Security
• C:\WINDOWS\desktop.html '
C:\WINDOWS\Web\desktop.html
•C:\WINDOWS\SSICO.ICO
• C:\Documents and Settings\Hodgo\Desktop\! Protect Your Data.url
•C:\Documents and Settings\Hodgo\Favorites\! Smart Security.url
• C:\Documents and Settings\Hodgo\Recent\! Smart Security.url
• C:\Documents and Settings\Hodgo\Start Menu\! Secure Yourself.url

Note* I'm assuming Hodgo is the user name having a problem with the desktop issue

Can you also let me know if you can find
C:\Program Files\TopAntiSpyware <--this folder

Stay in safe mode to do the rest
Open Hoster and Click the "Restore Original Hosts"

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O1 - Hosts: http://213.159.117.203/dkprogs/hosts.txt

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Service Host] C:\WINDOWS\System32\Services\{8893DE91-7857-479B-BFFC-3D5B7155F327}\SVCHOST.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Srv32 spool service] C:\WINDOWS\System32\spoolsrv32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [OLEDb Service] C:\WINDOWS\System32\runoledb32.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [Srv32 spool service] C:\WINDOWS\System32\spoolsrv32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [OLEDb Service] C:\WINDOWS\System32\runoledb32.exe

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Open Ad-Aware
Perform a Full system scan
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

RESTART your computer to Normal mode to finish the cleaning process

Post back a fresh hijackthis log afterwards and let me know if your problems are resolved

Looks good
Optionally you can have hijackthis fix this entry
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\Updreg.exe
Registration reminder for Creative products, not needed on startup

Did you find any of these?

If you find any of these related to Smart security, remove them also
Let me know if you found any
Using Windows Explorer and/or Search, locate and delete the following files
C:\WINDOWS\desktop.html '
C:\WINDOWS\Web\desktop.html
•C:\WINDOWS\SSICO.ICO
• C:\Documents and Settings\Hodgo\Desktop\! Protect Your Data.url
•C:\Documents and Settings\Hodgo\Favorites\! Smart Security.url
• C:\Documents and Settings\Hodgo\Recent\! Smart Security.url
• C:\Documents and Settings\Hodgo\Start Menu\! Secure Yourself.url

Can you also let me know if you can find
C:\Program Files\TopAntiSpyware <--this folder

If everything is running better

You should disable system restore---restart your computer--enable system restore
This will clear all your restore points and ensure you don't restore any nasties
Once reenabled it will create a fresh restore point
How to Disable and Re-enable System Restore feature

Once back in Windows and System Restore is reenabled

You should set up protection against future attacks

SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
TUTORIAL==Link to Tutorial
Download link==Download link
Scroll down and click on IE-SPYAD.EXE Free! or IE-SPYAD2.EXE Free!

Regular IE-Spyad for the individual user or IE-Spyad 2 for global protection(All users) on your computer
You only need one or the other

With both, Check for updates every couple of weeks
Keep the link to IE-Spyad bookmarked so you can check for updates
SpywareBlaster, after every update just simply enable all protection

IF your version of Windows is Legit
There is no reason to be so far behind on Windows Updates
This is important in keeping your system secure

Visit Window updates and get Latest Critical updates
Once Installed you will be prompted to restart your computer. Reboot and Go back to Windows updates and check for and install any other Critical updates
Don't install the Recommended updates unless they are something you want or need
If your not ready to install SP2 at minimum ensure to get all other Latest critical (High Priority) updates
Reboot when prompted and then revisit until you have them all

If your ready to install SP2, and need a hand let me know

Thanks for the links and extra advice!

I could only found one of those files-

C:\WINDOWS\Web\desktop.html

which was the ad that was always being recreated at start up.

Thanks once again for all of your help.
You're a true saint
