Winlogon.exe. problem
« on: February 27, 2005, 11:59:07 AM »
Hi, am having problems logging on to my computer, starts loading and sometimes will make it to displaying my desktop sometimes not, in any event after 30 seconds or a minute or so it will crash and automatically restart, this can happen once or up to five or six times before it finally logs in completely, I then get the error message that winlogon.exe. encountered a problem and had to close.
Would be grateful for any help in resolving this problem.
thanks

Are you able to stay in long enough to post a Hijackthis log?
If not can you quickly Right click>> MY Computer
Left click properties>>Click the Advanced tab>>Under Startup and Recovery
Click Settings
Uncheck Automatically Restart under System Failure

You may have to try in safe mode
Tap the F8 key as the system is booting up

Can you Download Hijackthis 1.99.1
A small utility to help identify if any Hijackers, Malware, Spyware, etc.....Reside on your computer

Important: Create a Permanent folder for Hijackthis
Double Click "MY Computer"
Open your C: drive
Click "File" >>> "New" >>>> "Folder"
A new folder will be created, name it HJT

Now you will have C:\HJT

Download Hijackthis from CLICK HERE or CLICK HERE
Save it to that new folder

Do a SCAN and Save a Log file---Save the log----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log  here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important

Can you do me a favor please

Can you access this Online Malware Scan
Give this site time to load
Jotti's Online Malware scan

Use the browse button and navigate to this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\isdbinst.exe <--this file

Right click on the file and choose Select
Then use the Submit button
Let it finish scanning
Could you post back the results of the scan back here please, just the scanner results

Well your there, could you do the same thing for this file, thanks

C:\WINDOWS\EULR.exe

Just one edit, I've never seen this one before
Can you download LSPFix.zip
from here
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Unzip it to your desktop
Open it and let me know what you see on the KEEP side
Also let me know what you see on the REMOVE side

Do a search on your computer and look for
cn7d0532.dll
Right click on it and left click properties, let me know what it's related too and the date created
You may find information under the Version tab
Could you also run that file through the Online malware scan

Don't try and manually delete it or you will lose Internet connection
