Since DX8.1 isnt out yet, we dont know.
However, it is highly unlikely that it will be slipstreamable.

maybe not offical, but i got a final version of dx 8.1 for NT/2k.
so how can i replace the dx 7.0 files from the orignal i386 folder with the one from dx 8.1, so that\'s still functional?
when i replace for instance the ddraw.dl_ with ddraw.ddl will it still work?

You can manually integrate the files into the i386 folder.
Then you modify layout.inf to copy the files to the correct folders.
To setup the registry, I dont know.
If the files must be cab files, I dont know, but I doubt it needs to be cab compressed.
It may need to be renamed to the dl_ format.

No, the layout.inf I removed some whitespace from on my w2k install, and it said, the file\'s signature is invalid.
The vgaoem.fo_ I have exchanged by vgaoem.fon though,
the file isn\'t signed, and now my setup font rocks *g*

Hi!
All Setup files that M$ dont want you to change are signed ! So that Guys wont insert Nimda in Driver.Cab file.
Other files like winnt.sif are not because they are part of OS, they just help you to install OS.
Layout.inf is the main setup file it shows the location of other crucial files, I don\'t think M$ would be happy if you try to intergrate your .vbs or .mp3 .wma in it
Yup
