Woohoo, lots of problems here
« on: March 18, 2005, 04:59:28 PM »
Well this problem thankfully isnt mine, but my brothers. While running some p2p software, he ended up with some TERRIBLE spyware, and now expects me to fix it. I've tried everything... Spybot, Adaware, and I downloaded SpywareGuard and SpywareBlaster for him to prevent this from happening again, but for the time being I would appreciate any help I can get from you all to fix the problem... Here is his current HiJackThis log.

Thanks!!

Could you, for now, disable SpywareGuard until we get you clean
Don't reenable it until we are done
It could get in the way of any fixes that we try
Double click the SpywareGuard Icon in the Systemtray by the clock
Click OPTIONS
Uncheck All General protection options
Save settings and OK it

Next:
Access your Add/Remove programs and remove if found
AM Server
POP

Restart your computer afterwards

Back in Windows

Download and UNZIP to desktop iSearch.zip
So now you will have iSearch.reg on your desktop
We'll need this later
[attachment=68:attachment]

Download and save too desktop this removal tool from Symantecs
FixAprop.exe
Again, we'll need this later

Please Print this out or save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

In safe mode
Find and delete these files or folders if found
C:\WINDOWS\dlmax.dll <-file
C:\WINDOWS\cerbmod.dll <-file
C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe <-file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\dsschap.exe <-file
c:\windows\system32\zzntgp.exe <-file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gcdef.exe <-file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\dpmtsn32.exe <-file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\d?xplore.exe <-file

C:\Program Files\CxtPls <-folder
C:\WINDOWS\isrvs <-folder
C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate <-folder

Stay in safe mode
Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

Alrighty, just finished all the scans and removal you asked.

I did NOT find the C:\WINDOWS\System32\d?xplore.exe file, nor did I find the C:\WINDOWS\isrvs folder. I did find everything else, and they have been deleted.

The FixAprop did not give an option to save a log file, only said the following once it was done running:

Scanned Files:33933
Deleted Threats: 28
Terminated Threatening Processes: 0
Registry Entries Fixed: 11

Here is the fresh HijackThis log

Download DelDomains.inf
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf and save it to desktop
We'll need this later>>If using a Mozilla browser, right click on that link and SAVE Link As, save it to desktop

Did you disable SpywareGuard from the instructions I supplied above?????
I want to ensure it's totally disabled
Open Spybot 1.3
Click on MODE at the top
Advanced>>OK the prompt
Click on TOOLS>>SYSTEM STARTUP
UNCHECK>>C:\Program Files\SpywareGuard\sgmain.exe
Exit hijackthis and restart your computer

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F7250D1C-C4F4-942C-FE08-C4C9DBC26FE2} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\qqblpxca.dll

O15 - Trusted IP range: 67.19.178.84

O16 - DPF: {EEECA057-AD0F-44A7-8BE5-8634CEDBDBD1} - http://akamai.downloadv3.com/binaries/IA/netpe32_EN_XP.cab

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

===Right Click on DelDomains.inf>>Choose Install from the menu bar
This will delete all your Trusted and Ranges entries

Restart your computer

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad) hit Enter
Copy the contents of the CODE box to notepad
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS

Name the file as Export.bat
Save it on the desktop

Code: [Select]
dir C:\WINDOWS\System32\d?xplore.exe /a h > files.txt
notepad files.txt

Double click on Export.bat and files.txt will open
Copy and paste back the contents please

Also post a fresh Hijackthis log
