Trojans everywhere
« on: March 25, 2005, 02:06:08 PM »
While running AVG this morning it found some trojan horses. I can't heal, delete or put them in the vault so I don't know what to do now. I come to you for help.

I have scanned the computer and here is the hijackthis log

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/nocache/funwe...etup1.0.0.8.cab
O16 - DPF: {2B96D5CC-C5B5-49A5-A69D-CC0A30F9028C} (MiniBugTransporterX Class) - http://download.weatherbug.com/minibug/tri...Transporter.cab?

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Restart your computer
Post back a fresh Hijackthis log afterwards

Can you let me know where AVG is finding these files it can't remove

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

The viruses are located in C:\Documents and Settings\Application\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javap1\v1.0

These viruses seem to have come in zipped files.I tried deleting these files before I posted here the first time but the viruses keep coming back.

The new hijackthis log

Can you enter your Control Panel
Double click to open the Java Plugin
Click on the Cache tab
Clear Cache

Well your there, could you also let me know what version of Java your using

I missed an entry in hijackthis you may want to fix, it has no bearing on the Java problem however

With all other windows closed, can you have hijackthis fix checked these entries  in your log

Restart your computer

Let me know if you were able to clear the cache in Java and what version your running

From what I can tell I was able to clear the cache in Java. I am running Java version 1.3.1_01

I wasn't sure if you wanted a new hijackthis log so I didn't put one. If you want a new log let me know.

Thanks so much for your help so far.    http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Your last log looked good, all for the exception of runnin an Old Java

What I can recommend

Go to this link and download the OFFLINE INSTALLATION of the latest Java
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp

Save it to desktop

Access your add/remove programs and remove your version of Java by Sun

Restart if prompted

Double click and and install the newest version
Again, restart if prompted

I think you have SpywareBlaster and Ie-Spyad installed so I won't ask you to install them again
By the way
SpywareBlaster is now updated to version 3.3
IE-Spyad just had an update
