Cannot Defragment Computer
« on: March 26, 2005, 10:39:56 AM »
My friend told me to defragment my computer to speed it up. I have tried, but the process always stops after at most 1/4 of the way through. This is after I cleared out space on the hard drive which leaves 38% free space. I was told anything over 20% should suffice. In any case, if there is anyone out there that knows how I can handle this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Try this
First>>Right click an empty spot on your desktop and select Properties

Under the screensaver tab>>Drop down menu set to (None)
You can change it back later

Under the Power set to Always ON

Apply the changes

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

and try Defragging again

If still no go, to ensure it's not viral related
