help! a toolbar and sex stuff

Hi, I need some help please. I don't know what was installed in my computer but the IE6 is infected by something because a toolbar called netsearch keeps appearing. Whenever I use the IE6 a lot a porn links come out too. I already runned Spybot, Adware and CWShredder and none where able to remove it.

i think it has something to do with this http://catmx.com

I'm just on my way to bed, but could you do the following for me please

==Download and Install this small program
to help clean your temp folders,cookies, etc...
Windows Cleanup
Give the link time to load or try it twice, it may be busy
Install for now, don't run a scan yet

==Download and Unzip to a folder Hoster.zip

==Download and then Install
Ewido Trojan Scanner

When installing, under "Additional Options" Uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We'll fix that later
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido

Please Print this out or save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop
Also, know how to start into safe mode in advance, if unsure, look at the link I supplied ahead of time

Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.


Access your Add/Remove programs and remove if found
MWSearch Toolbar

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, after the single post beep, or use the link

Using Windows Explore>Find and delete these files if found
C:\WINDOWS\System32\xpcd.exe <-this file
C:\WINDOWS\sys149.dll <-file

==Open Windows CleanUp!>>START>>programs>>Cleanup!
Click on the CleanUp button, let it finish scanning for files, when it's done
Decline to Log off

Instead
==Open Ewido trojan scanner
Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take a while, so give it time to run
If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file.
Save the report

Open Hoster and click on "Restore Original Hosts"
OK it and exit

Restart back to Normal mode

Post back a fresh Hijackthis log and the report from Ewidos'

Download and UNZIP to desktop mwremove.zip
So you now have mwremove.reg extracted to desktop

Back in Windows
Delete this folder if found

I assume you only installed SpywareBlaster, is that right?

Could this be the job of your Popup blocker, not letting you rate the artist?

Were you able to rate artists' before you installed SpywareBlaster?

As a test, and I suggest you only do this temporarily
Can you open SpywareBlaster and Disable all protection
Try the site again, are you able to rate the artist?

you're absolutely right... my problem has nothing to do with SpywareBlaster. I did what you asked, Disabled all protection and try the site... just does not work.

As you recomended, i installed both of them: the IE-Spyad and the SpywareBlaster.

i've noticed that some sites that works correctly with the firefox doesn't work with the explorer. it may not be the pop up blocker, but i think the security settings in the explorer could be a factor.

what do you think?

I don't believe that the address in on IE-Spyad's block list

It may be an affiliate when you go to rate the artist

As another double check
Can you do the following temporily

Disable SpywareBlaster protection
Then navigate to C:\IE-Spyad
Open the folder and double click the Install.bat

Follow the prompts too uninstall the IE-spyad list

Try the site again>>If it works, the affiliate address is on the block list
I would leave it alone, I leave that up to you

If it still won't work, it could be an Active X issue, I'm not sure

If Still no go, go back and enable protection with SpywareBlaster and IE-Spyad(double click install.bat and follow instructions to install)

Try adding that site to your Trusted Sites listing

I find it! I tried everything, and then went to the flash killer in spywareblaster (tools section). Then unchecked the box to disable the macromedia flash in the explorer. now, the player works.

is it dangerous? any suggestion?

Also reenable the protection from IE-Spyad

Your choice to block flash, if you need to see the flash content keep that box unchecked
