CPU Usage constantly at 100%
« on: May 14, 2005, 01:30:51 PM »
My cpu usage is constantly at 100 % even during start up then it drops down to normal usage after about 30 seconds of being almost completely frozen. It does this while broadcasting webcam, and watching movies especially but also with flash pages, but now it's gotten much worse and is almost constant when any internet apps are runnning. this is the hijack this log file

CPU Usage constantly at 100%
I see you have Spybot installed on your Computer
Is it right up to date, have you checked for Updates lately and run a scan

I would also do the following

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O1 - Hosts: 208.253.59.172 mini.aimster.com
O1 - Hosts: 65.120.116.172 mini.aimster.com
O1 - Hosts: .120.116.174 www.aimster.com
O1 - Hosts: 65.120.116.172 mini.aimster.com
O1 - Hosts: 65.120.116.174 www.aimster.com

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

O8 - Extra context menu item: >>> FREE PORN GALLERIES <<< - java script:{document.location='http://sexmaxx.com/freegalleries.htm';}

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://207.188.7.150/1095727240a31b810305/netzip/RdxIE2.cab
O16 - DPF: {B991DA79-51F7-4011-98D2-1F2592E82A56} (ACNPlayer2 Class) - http://204.118.132.145/2_0/ACNePlayer.cab

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Restart the computer

Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05
Ensure you have this version or the paid version
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the  check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
Perform a Full system scan
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

RESTART your computer to finish the cleaning process

Back in Windows
Run another scan with Hijackthis and post a fresh log

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

How is everything????
If you still have high CPU usage, can you open your Task manager and let me know what's using all the resources

Did this start after installing Flashget?

What is eie ???

Can you for troubleshooting purposes

Go to START>>RUN>>Type in msconfig
Hit OK

Under the Startup tab>>Disable ALL
OK it and then Allow to restart the computer

Back in Windows see if the startup improves and the freezing stops

If this speeds things up
Then go back to msconfig and only at this time enable anything to do with McAfee's
ONLY

OK it and restart your computer

Still fast startups?
By trial and error go back to msconfig and keep enabling and restarting until you track down the offending program
If any

When was the last time you cleaned your temp folders and did a Disk Defrag on your system?

Can you do the following for me please
==Download and Install this small program
to help clean your temp folders, cookies, etc...
Windows Cleanup
Give the link time to load or try it twice, it may be busy
We'll need this later

Please Print this out or save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, after the single post beep, or use the link
I supplied for a more detailed explanation

In safe mode

Go to
START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc
Hit OK
In the next window, look on the right hand side for this service
name---- Panda Process Protection Service

Double click on it--- STOP the service--If running
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled

Just to be safe
Access your Display properties via Control Panel
under the Screen Saver tab set to NONE in the drop down menu
In the POWER option
Set to Always ON

==Open Windows CleanUp!>>START>>programs>>Cleanup!
Click on the CleanUp button, let it finish scanning for files, when it's done
Decline to Log off

==Go to START>>All programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>Disk Defragmentor
Run the tool
This may take awhile if not done in a long time
An hour or so

When it's done restart back to Normal mode

The startup may be a bit slow as Windows CleanUp! also cleans the Prefetch folder, this is normal

Restart your computer one more time after you are fully loaded

Is the speed picking up, any freezes?

Can you also do the following

   1. Click on either the AOL icon or the Dialer icon on the right of the system tray.
   2. Click System Information.
   3. Click the Utilities tab.
   4. Click Clear Browser Cache.

Is it still at 44%, or is it still advancing?

Are you in safe mode?

Ensure there are no running programs in the background

We could use a third party utility, but not sure if it's needed

What percent are you at right now?

When was the last time you did a successful disk defrag to a full 100%?

[quote name=\'scottbaio\' date=\'May 14 2005, 02:30 PM\']My cpu usage is constantly at 100 % even during start up then it drops down to normal usage after about 30 seconds of being almost completely frozen. It does this while broadcasting webcam, and watching movies especially but also with flash pages, but now it's gotten much worse and is almost constant when any internet apps are runnning. this is the hijack this log file

Your problem has nothing to do with crapware, misconfigurations or anything like that.

It has to do with Email Removed

Specifically: AOL Connectivity Services - AOLacsd.exe

This is a program that constantly monitors your AOL session for unexpected disconnection from Email Removed

to fix:

Start --> Settings --> Add/Remove Programs

After the applet is populated with all the programs it knows about, select:

AOL Connectivity Services

Click on "Change/Remove"

The next dialog has two options. The one you want is 'Repair". Select the "Repair" option. Click "OK"

If you don't have the privileges to repair this, you'll have to log on in safe mode as administrator and repair it from there.
