Pop-Up Ads (HJT Log)
« on: May 24, 2005, 06:03:01 AM »
Hi, sorry to follow suit and just post an HJT log up but I don't quite understand what is wrong. Two main problems I am experiencing are that the image list is greyed out when I go to change my desktop background and I am getting several popups, homepage being reset etc.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, my HJT log is as follows:

Because of the Install of Messenger Plus 3, you are now infected with LOP among other infections

Can you please do the following for now,
Access your Add/Remove Programs and Remove Messenger Plus 3
If prompted to remove just the Sponsor
Choose to Remove Messenger Plus 3 and the Sponsor
Make sure to uncheck the option to Keep your Settings and plugins if prompted
(Or check) I've never had it installed but you DON'T want to keep them

Choose Uninstall if prompted again

Restart your computer

After we get you clean you can choose to Reinstall Messenger Plus 3 without the Sponsor
But please don't reinstall it until we get you clean

Back in Windows after the restart

I would go back to Add/Remove programs and remove MYWEBSEARCH
If it will uninstall
Again restart your computer after removal

Back in Windows
Run another scan with Hijackthis and post a fresh log and we'll get the rest of the infections
I'll check back later to see how your doing

That's ok, I have to go cut the grass and household chores before I go back to work  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

That's just a start, we'll get the hijacked desktop and other bad files next round

Remember to tell your friend that he can reinstall MSN Plus3 later
WITHOUT the Sponsor if they want it, but hold off until the computer is clean
