If you have no system on your hardisk , you must install a system (dos, windows) to recover data on your harddisk  or enter , with a system floppy disk ( f.e. winme , win 98 , win95 startup disk ) and use  dos commands to recuperate your data files . You cannot recuperate formerly  installed programs of an os that isn\'t there anymore, because those installations are deleted with your system registry . .If your w2k partition is a fat 32 partition I see no real problem to enter from dos .

If you must install a OS install win2k on the partition....name the folder whatever....you wont loose any data....there is however other programs out there that can recover data on partitions without any OS on them....im not sure but i did hear that you can do that...and there is even a way to burn cd\'s that ways...no clue how..but i have read that somewhere...i\'ll search for ya now and get back if i find any results

ONtrack professional creates a boot disk floppy which will allow the recovery of all files from a hard drive, it does this by copy [censored] loads of files to a 2mb RAM drive.

if you have a second hard disk then you can use Ontrack\'s Easy Recovery Pro to recover every file from the Windows 2000 disk to the second hard disk
