Lost win xp pro product key

Ok so my computer had so many trojan viruses and spyware so my friend said I should reformat my computer, so I did and now I'm installing win xp pro edition again, then it asked for my product key under my Certificate of Autheniticity but I looked at it and it said:

You are required to affix this Certificate of Autheniticity to the exterior of the PC

it didn't have the 25 digit product key  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':unsure:\' />

so now all I can do is restart the computer and it will install windows xp pro again untill it gets to the product key prompt.

Does anybody have any ideas of what I should do?

i have had exactly the same product, the code that i have has only 14 characters instead of 25 characters!!! If u solve this please inform me...

So, do you have a valid serial key that hasn't been used on more than one computer? If so, then just call microsoft and tell them your problem, and they will most likely replace the key for you.
