im getting all kinds of pop-ups and viruses and noticing new desktop icons that take me to web-pages that i never put there or been too. the common thing coming up on my ad-aware scan is r?gsvr.exe file that cannot seem to be deleted. to anyone who can help here is my HijackThis log:

Do the following as was advised too me,

Grab these tools please
There all yours for free, so make sure you have each one
==Download and Install this small program
to help clean your temp folders,cookies, etc...
Windows Cleanup
Give the link time to load or try it twice, it may be busy
Alternate Download link
We'll need this later

Download Ewido
When installing, under "Additional Options" Uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We'll fix that later
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
In the Event that Ewido can't updateplease download the full database from this link

==Download and Install the free version of Ad-Aware SE personal 1.06
Ensure you have the latest version
Open Ad-Aware, ensure to click the check for updates now link and Connect to download the latest updates
When installing Ad-Aware should check for updates
Allow it, but don't run a scan yet

==Download and Install Spybot 1.4 from

Don't activate the Tea Timer when installing, it's a great feature but can get in the way
of any fixes we may still have to do
After installation--Click the UPDATE button on the left
SEARCH FOR UPDATES on the right
Check, and download all updates
Don't run a scan yet

Now that you have the tools and they're all updated, Disconnect from the Internet
and stay disconnected until the below is done

Please Print this out or save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop
RESTART your Computer in Safe Mode?
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads, or use the link
I supplied for a more detailed explanation

==Open Windows CleanUp!>>START>>programs>>Cleanup!
Click on the CleanUp button, let it finish scanning for files, when it's done
DECLINE to Log off or Restart when scan is done.

Open Ad-Aware
Click START
Click the radio button to Perform a Full system scan then click NEXT
When it's finished scanning
At this point you should either right click on the screen and and choose the "Select All" Objects option or individually put a checkmark in each objects checkbox
click on the Next button. Ad-Aware SE will now present you with a confirmation box as to whether or not you would like to remove the objects you have just selected. Press the "OK" button

RESTART your computer to finish the cleaning process
Please Restart back to Safe mode

Back in Safe mode
Open Spybot
Click the Search & Destroy button on the left
Check for Problems---When the Scan is complete
FIX all selected promblems in RED

RESTART the computer to finish the cleaning process
Please Restart back to Safe mode

Back in Safe mode
==Open Ewido Security Suite
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Click on the Settings button on the right
Select "Scan Every File"
OK it and then click on the "Complete System Scan"
Please refrain from opening any other Windows as Ewido is running
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
1. Perform Action = Remove
2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
3. select "Perform action with all infections"
Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido

Restart back to Normal mode

Run another scan with Hijackthis and post a fresh log
Also include the report from Ewidos

Thank you for your info. i did what you said to try. a few colors are different now and i noticed my repetitive bad file (r?gsvr.exe) has disappeared. but when i loaded up i did get a new desktop icon again that i dont know where it came from, but that could have just popped up b4 i did all that and i will monitor that closely to be sure. here is the HijackThis report and the Report from Ewidos:

Download L2mfix from here

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread.
Along with a new hijackthis log

[color=\"red\"]IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so![/color]

NOTE:After restart and L2MFIX finishes scanning for files>>give this time to finish
If a text doesn't open, run the "second.bat" located inside the L2mfix folder

I am gettin new desktop items daily and cannot figure out the problem. The desktop items are things like "free ipod" and various advertisements that when double clicked open up a pop-up window of that product. If anyone has any ideas on shuttin this down then please let me know. also since i ran some programs to clean my computer off the last time, my start bar has changed from my blue windows XP start bar to a regular "classic" gray start bar. Its not that big of deal but the change bugs me so if anyone has any idea on how to restore my blue windows XP start bar please let me know and once again thank you.

Let's try some more cleaning
Since I didn't get the chance to see a report from Ewido's
Can you do the following please
From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/

Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Please Print this out or save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop
RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads, or use the link
I supplied for a more detailed explanation

In safe mode
==Manually navigate too and delete these files or folders if found
Don't delete something because it looks similiar

Stay in safe mode

==Open Windows CleanUp!>>START>>programs>>Cleanup!
Click on the CleanUp button, let it finish scanning for files, when it's done
DECLINE to Log off or Restart when scan is done.

==Open Ewido trojan scanner
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Click on the Settings button on the right
Select "Scan Every File"
OK it and then click on the "Complete System Scan"
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
*1. Perform Action = Remove
*2. Create Encrypted Backup in Quarantine (Recommended)
*3. Perform action with all infections
Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido

NOTE: When Ewido is running do NOT open any other Windows
Let it do it's job

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

I asked that you delete this folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsvsvc <-this folder

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Restart the computer into Safe mode
Find and delete the files recommended by Symantec's link
Also delete these folders if found
C:\Program Files\Cas <-this folder
C:\Program Files\CasStub <-this folder
C:\Program Files\eole <-this folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsvsvc <-this folder

Restart back to Normal mode

Could you run an online virus scan at Panda's please
