Hi all, I recently installed windows XP onto my system. I\'ve done a clean format and an upgrade from windows 98 SE, but I still get this problem.
I can play audio CDs, but there is static in the back ground. I\'ve checked and no it\'s not the CD. As well, I am UNABLE to access any programmes via the CDRW drive. I get errors like setup files are missing and whatnot. However, the CD works immacuately with windows 98!!
I don\'t understand why this is happening, could it be a BIOS problem, drivers, etc???!!! A friend lent me this version of XP and he/she hasn\'t had any problems with it as well as the others he/she has lent it to (totalling 6 or 7).
I am running an 1.2 gig AMD Athlon w/ 256 DDR ram. I have a K7AMA motherboard with...I\'m not sure what the chipset is.
Any help much appreciated, thanks.
PS: I can \'explore\' the CD, but just not run it??
