smtp virus HELP!!!
« on: October 07, 2005, 09:00:06 AM »
I have a virus that sends 10s of emails.  Presumamble it has installed it's own smtp engine because my norton antivirus 2005 spyware edition pops up 10s of 'scanning outgoing email' notification (i unplug the network cable before it manages to send any!)
I have run a full system scan to no avail, the virus is still there.

Please help me!  I include the hijackthis log:

smtp virus HELP!!!
« Reply #1 on: October 09, 2005, 09:40:30 AM »
Even though noone has replied to my post, I have managed to fix the problem by looking at advise given by guestolo (thanks!) for similar viruses in other posts. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

As it turns out my computer had been attacked by ProxyTrojans that created a smtp engine that mass emailed spam from my computer.

Most of the spyware was picked up by edwin and adaware in safe mode.  Just look at guestolo's posts for more answers if you have similar problmes. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />
