Cannot access my external hard drive
« on: October 21, 2005, 05:55:32 AM »
I lost my hard drive logo...and i found on western digital support downloads the program i need to get it back....i hope.

But the problem is the instructions say to place this progam i downloaded from there into the root of the drive.  The problem is I can't find a way to get into the drive.  The instructions say to go to my computer and click on the letter of the drive...and thats not there either.

Now I have gone to the device manager and it shows a usb mass storage devise there and when i check that it says...Compatible USB storage device.  So I believe the drive is working properly...I just don't know how else I can access an external hard drive.   I have emailed WD but am still waiting.  Hope someone here can help.

Thanks

Try to install the drivers, once again...
I have problems with many of my USB which kinda like these...
I just re-install the drivers that is on the CD that follows in the package http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

r u using windoze xp or 2000 (2k) or ME? coz windoze 98 and below are incompatible without drivers.
Windows: A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.

For God's Sake, stop using Micro$oft's stuff - it has security like a piece of swiss cheese!
