looks like my tmp variable has been set to k: which doesnt exist and thus Ive had problems installing software from CD as it keep writing back to itself not being able to find the tmp directory. How does one change this environment variable? Ive checked my autoexec.bat and all is well there.

What OS?  I know in Win2k/XP that you right-click My Computer, select properties.  Click the Advanced tab.  Now towards the bottom, click the \"Environment Variables\" button.  There\'s where you can change it.
