upgrading a p2 400
« on: November 05, 2001, 02:04:48 AM »
Hello all and thnx in advance for any help. I currently have a Gateway GP6 PII 400 that is factory except for an added hard drive a cdrw and an extra 64mb ram.

I would like to Upgrade the PC to a Athlon 1.4ghz  I have a mobo/cpu/ram bundle i want to buy. As well as a new power supply for the new setup.

My question is Can this be done? Will the new stuff fit into this Mid Tower ATX gp6 case correctly?

Have you already bought the new power supply?  If not, get a complete case instead.  Usually it\'s about $10-$20 more to get the case with power supply, instead of just the power supply.

This way, you won\'t have to worry about whether it\'ll fit right or not.  If you must have the current case though, buy everything you need except for the power supply.  See if your new motherboard will fit.  If not, you gotta buy the case.  If so, just swap out the power supply (assuming it\'ll fit in the gateway case, of course), and that\'s it.
