Help please HJT log file

I would greatly appreciate if someone could read over my logfile and try to help me remove the worm that has infected my system. I constantly get messages saying that my programs have experienced errors and need to close and ask me  to send or not to send an error report to microsoft. if i click on either choices the program closes but if i move the dialog box then i can most times continue using the program. It also causes certain folders to close automatically 5 secs after i open them. Also whenever my computer loads up, straight away i get a dialog box saying that windows explorer needs to close and to send an error report etc... More annoyingly is that whenever I shutdown my computer it fails to shutdown every time, I constantly have to disconnect the computer at the base unit. I have tried to install norton security but it wont let the program run, I have ran Fixgoner.exe but it found nothing and also avg free found nothing. As I said any help would be greatly appreciated.

Download L2mfix from here

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

Can you do the following
We'll probably have a bit more cleanup to do, but let's see what we can clean
this shot
I must take off, so I want to get you started and get the rest next time

Open SpySweeper>>Click on the OPTIONS button and then click Update Definitions button
Let SpySweeper update
You should get a notication that Your definitions are up to date at the bottom

Once that is done

Please print the rest of these instructions or copy and paste them too notepad for reference

Close this Window
Make sure you are disconnected from the internet.

In SpySweeper
Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives.  Ensure C: Local Drive is checked
Under What to Sweep, check every box.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system.

When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next

From 'Results', select the Session Log tab. Click Save to File and save the log somewhere convenient.

When prompted, allow Spy Sweeper to restart your computer

Back in Windows
Stay disconnected from the Net

Close any open programs running in the background, this step requires another reboot
Run L2MFix again with these instructions

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log
Post the contents of this log back here

 If the L2MFix doesn't run after the restart, then go into the L2M fix folder and double click on second.bat to run it.

Additionally,
Copy and paste the SpySweeper log together with a fresh hijackthis log into this thread.

Hey, thanks for help with this. Its much appreciated.

I did what you said above. spy sweeper ran and found absolutely nothing whatsoever. I then ran L2MFIX and waited while the computer tried to scan after rebooting. My desktop went blank but nothing ever came as a result of the scan (desktop remained blank the whole time) and I waited over 6 hrs for it. Whatever worm is installed is stoping programs running and trying to close them down.

As I said in the 1st post I keep getting message boxes apperaing trying to close the majority of my programs saying that an error has occurred and wheter I want to send an error report to microsoft. I sent a few and they keep reporting the same error as Error caused by LAME Project: No specific solution found

If this problem continues to occur with the latest product updates for LAME MP3 codec, we recommend you obtain assistance and troubleshooting information directly from LAME Project. " I dont understand how a lack of a codec that I cant remember having or uninstalling and have since installed can have such an impact on my computer.

Ok, let's get some cleaning done on this computer
We'll eliminate some possibilites

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED

Afterwards, you now have AVG installed
It's not a good idea to run more than one Anti-Virus software on your computer
As this can cause conflicts and a decrease in system performance

Please Remove one of your AV's

Reboot the computer

Back in Windows

Access Internet Options via Control Panel
Under the Programs tab "Reset Web Settings"
Under the General tab---Delete files + offline content

Post a fresh hijackthis log

I need to check on something

I thought the same thing when I saw the lame mp3 error, so I downloaded the sony fix but it said that I did not have XCP installed on my computer. I sse from the log file that about blank is still there, but to be honest ive had that problem a while back and xoftspy sorted it out for me. Not sure what you mean that you had a problem with about:blank earlier
I'm not a big fan of Xoftspy, but can you try the following

Download and save to desktop the
Standalone version of CWShredder

Run CWshredder.exe, do the Scan only
Does it find anything?

Also, can you do the following
I just want to check on something
==Create a New folder on your desktop, call it Aboutbuster
(Right click an empty spot on the desktop and select NEW>>FOLDER)
Download to desktop About:Buster 5.1
by RubbeR Ducky
Unzip it to that new folder

Open the Aboutbuster folder and Run About:buster.exe
Click the Update button
Allow to update

Close down your browser
Run About:Buster.exe again
This time
Click the Begin Removal button
Can you please run this scan twice
When it's done it will produce a log in the Aboutbuster folder called
Ab logfile.txt
I'll need to see the log later

Restart your computer

Back in Windows
Post a fresh hijackthis log and the Ab logfile.txt from About:Buster
and the info from CWShredder
Additionally, can you do the following

Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Navigate to the System32 folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32

Do you see any of these file names?
spoolsvc.dll
spoolsvc.exe <-Don't mistake this for Spoolsv.exe, notice the "c"

The LAME MP3 codec error
Can you try something

Open the Windows Control panel
# select the 'Sounds and Multimedia' option.
# In the 'Hardware' tab, select 'Audio Codec' from the list and click the 'Properties' button.
# In the 'Properties' tab, you should see the list of audio codecs which are installed on your system.

Do you see a  "LAME ACM MP3 Codec"
or similiar?
If you do can you right click on it and choose properties
Select the radio button to "Do not use this codec"
OK out of there


Can we try and reset your Microsoft search defaults

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad) hit Enter
Copy the contents of the Quote box to notepad
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
Important>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as IEfix.reg

Save this on the desktop

Do another scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\System\blank.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\System\blank.htm

O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows, including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Double click on IEFix.reg and allow to edit or merge to the registry

REBOOT your computer

You're a credit to humanity http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />  You have fixed 3/4 of the problems I have been experiencing, my internet works, programs run and my computer actually suts down!! I will more than galdly donate to your cause. Although I was wondering could you help me with my final problem. I still get a windows explorer error that automatically closes down certain folders that i open and then states this error An analyst at Microsoft has investigated this problem and determined that an unknown error occurred in LSX_MPEG Player. Obviously I need to disable this program, but I cant fid it anywhere on my computer at all. Do you know how I can find this?
Given that these errors seem to be related to codecs, it makes me think that the ACE mega codes pack I recently installed has caused these problems, but do you know how this could have happened? Do you think it had a virus in it? Can you uninstall the ACE mega codes pack
Reboot the computer and see if the error messages go away

Do you need an open source media player that may be compatible with a lot of avi files,etc...?
