Can you do the following please

Run a Full system scan with Ad-Aware
When the scan is done
Select the "Show Logfile" button

Right click in the logfile and "Select All" to highlight the log
Then use the Ctrl + C
2 key combination on the keyboard to Copy the log

Come back here and paste the whole log into your next reply

Virtumonde!?
« Reply #3 on: November 22, 2005, 05:55:05 PM »
Can you do the following,
Your a bit out of date with the Ad-Aware definitions

Open Ad-Aware and check for updates
Download the newest updates

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box to notepad, not including the word "code"
But, make sure to include regedit4
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fix.reg

Save this file on the desktop, well need this later, don't run it yet

Code: [Select]
REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MSEvents.MSEvents.1]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MSEvents.MSEvents]

==Download and save WinPFind.zip
UNZIP the contents to your desktop
Don't run it yet

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads, or use the link
I supplied for a more detailed explanation

Double click on fix.reg and allow to merge to the registry

Run a scan with Ad-Aware in safe mode again

Open the WinPFind folder you extracted to desktop
Double click on WinPFind.exe
Click START SCAN
This could take some time as it will scan your drive
Close out after

Reboot back to Normal mode
Run one more scan with Ad-Aware, does it pick up anything related to Virtumonde?

Post a fresh hijackthis log
Post the results of the WindPFind.txt located in the WinPFind folder

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Follow the instructions posted http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php/topic/22942-please-read-how-to-post-logs-from-frst/\'>Click Here

Virtumonde!?
« Reply #4 on: November 23, 2005, 01:54:29 AM »
I don't know if I did it right. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />  The Ad-Aware is still detecting Virtumonde.

Here is the fresh hjt log and the results of the windpfind:

Okay, let's do the following to see if your clean

Download and save to desktop
fix.zip
[attachment=429:attachment]
UNZIP the contents too desktop so you now have fix.reg extracted

==Download and then Install
Ewido Security Suite

When installing, under "Additional Options" Uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".

From the main ewido screen, click on Update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
Close out Ewido for now, we'll need it later
If for some reason the Updater won't work can you manually download the
Updates from this link after you have Ewido installed
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/

Please  save these instructions to a Notepad file and save it to your Desktop for reference
Or Print this out

Reboot your computer into Safe mode
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Select Safe mode from the Startup menu

In safe mode

==Open Ewido Security Suite
Click on the Scanner button on the left menu
Select Complete System Scan
*If Ewido finds something it will prompt you with "Infected Object found"
Ensure the following are Selected
  *1. Perform Action = Remove
*2. Perform action with all infections
  Then click OK
When Ewido has finished it's scan click the "Save Report" button
Save the report to desktop
Exit Ewido

Double click on fix.reg and allow to add or merge to the registry

Reboot back to Normal mode and let me see a fresh hijackthis log and the Whole report from Ewidos

I'm amazed that Virtumonde is still around
Your log looks good

One last scan please
Download the trial version of Spy Sweeper from HERE
Click on the Free trial link

Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper)

You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.
(This may take several minutes)

Please print the rest of these instructions or copy and paste them too notepad for reference

Make sure you are disconnected from the internet.

In SpySweeper
Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives
Ensure Local Disk C is checked
Under What to Sweep, check every box.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system.

When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next

From 'Results', select the Session Log tab. Click Save to File and save the log somewhere convenient.

When prompted, allow Spy Sweeper to restart your computer
or Restart the computer anyways

Back in Windows

I need to see these 2 logs
Copy and paste the SpySweeper log together with a fresh hijackthis log into this thread.

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Your log still looks good, how's everything now?

Spysweeper found some traces of Virtumunde
Hopefully that took care of it all now
