My review for Pokemon Crystal
(Yeah I know, another Pokemon game, so what?)
Title: Pokemon Crystal
Platform: Gameboy Color
My Rating: 9.1/10
Gameplay:
Crystal is mainly the regular Pokemon game where you have to catch them all and see them all. This game has more new Pokemon to be caught and trained. You mainly start your journey in your hometown with either Chikorita, Cindiquil, or Totodile. You then travel till you beat all the gym leaders and trainers proving that you can take the pokemon league challenge and be a Pokemon Master. The only features this game has that sets it apart from red, blue, and yellow is that the game features:
1. An organized backpack
2. New Pokeballs and items like berries
3. The new phone feature
4. And of course, new Pokemon
Sound:
The sound and music in the game has been changed in style and beat from pokemon Red and Blue. I like what they’ve done with the music by giving it a different attitude. The early beat and music in red/blue sounded too “happy” and “cheerful” because you were struggling to become a pokemon master. Just not for teenagers or young adults who are into the pokemon but don’t want any childishness involved.
Graphics:
The graphics are okay considering that this game is on the Gameboy Color. For the pokemon in the game, they have done a great job in redrawing the pokemon’s appearance as well as their backs when they’re battling for you. Seriously, the pokemon’s backs in red/blue made them look weird and as if the animations were done on a computer that only had the “Paint” application available.
Maneuvering:
The maneuvering of your character is okay and even better when you get on your bike to go faster. Why would you want to move really fast on a pokemon game? Only if you’re an eager-beaver and want to arrive in the next city in the same minute you depart from your current one.
Entertaining:
Pokemon Crystal is very entertaining for all ages since you have many things to keep you entertained with. You could continue your quest for the pokemon master title, win the bug contest, catch rare-colored pokemon, or go after the three legendary dogs as well as Ho-oh and Lugia.
