My review for The Legacy of Goku
The game that shows the strongest saiyan in the universe in action!
Title: The Legacy of Goku
Platform: Gameboy advance
My Rating: 7/10
Gameplay:
The Legacy of Goku, the game that tells the story of Dragonball Z from the saiyan saga to the Frieza saga when Goku turns Super Saiyan. The game features a story mode and an option mode for the difficulty of the game and sound. In the story, Goku is on a quest to rid the earth from all the bad guys that endanger his friends and family. You’ll start on Earth and end up on the planet Namek.
Sound:
Most of the game’s music is copied directly from the DBZ TV series. Just because the music is good on the show, doesn’t mean that it’ll be good on the game. Besides this, the music is horrible and sounds as if Goku is fighting at a funeral than in the mountains with his enemies, Vegeta and Nappa.
Graphics:
The graphics are good, for an anime game. What’s good is that they show the characters with 3D shading but not too much so they’ll keep their cartoony look. This game is an RPG, so the characters have to look small and stubby since multiple characters could be on the same screen fighting at once. Also, the game is limited to its graphics since it’s on the Gameboy advance.
Maneuvering:
The character, Goku, is really easy to move around. Once you level him up in speed, he’ll move really fast and easy to maneuver. The only problem is that the landscape and background can confuse you to where your suppose to go. Like in one level, Goku has to fly over a hill (flying is just like walking and you take steps in the air) but the ground and hills have the same color and you can’t tell where to start flying or can’t make out the hill so you try to make it over without running out of flying points. You manage to get into the air but don’t know where to fly to up, down, left or right. So you end up wasting all your flying points and get stuck on the hill with no way to get off. Then you end up resetting your game. What a waste of time and batteries!
Entertaining:
The game is very entertaining for hardcore gaming fans. But most fans of RPG would rather prefer to play better games like Final Fantasy series than Dragonball Z. The only people that would like this game are children who love DBZ. For everybody else, this game just isn’t for us.
