Install Windows 95 OEM - need bootdisk
« on: December 22, 2005, 05:52:37 PM »
Hi,

I recently purchased a copy of Windows 95 with USB Support ( i think its version b or OSR 2 or sumthing like that) but because the Windows 95 CD-ROM's aren't bootable they require a boot disk to start the installation. Heres the problem, the idiot i bought it off didn't include one, therefore rendering it useless. I've already tried a Windows 98 setup disk, and a windows 95 startup disk to no sucess. Can someone please tell me where from and what to download?

Thank-you Very Much
Ashton

yeah, it doesn't work either. any of the original windows 95 boot disks, such as those from bootdisk.com do not have the apprpriate cd-rom drivers on the diosk, so therefore u can't boot a cd

Dude, did you try CD-ROM God? I had the same problem as you and I used it to install Windows 95 OSR2 to an old Compaq computer.

CD-ROM God

"This boot disk tool features over 20 CD-ROM drivers. It includes basic ATAPI drivers as well as model-specific drivers, which extend your CD-ROM drive's functionality. This version uses a DOS menu and device.com to load, so you will have to boot-up only once. Also included is a CorelCDX with a memory cache."

Download the zip file. Extract the zip and write the files to a floppy.  Use the floppy to boot the computer you want to install OSR2 to. When the computer boots, it will ask you some questions. Pick the type of cd drive you have and then insert your
OSR2 disc and install Windows 95. It worked for me when everything else failed.

I like your sig, by the way...  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />
