Win xp pro activation etc.

HELP.

Had my laptop for 3 years running xp home edition that was preinstalled but wantted to format to start afresh.  Guess what my restore disks would not work and the manufacurer is not intrested, microsoft is not intrested.

I have a xp pro service pack 2 cd from work but the key is already used.

what can i do?  I have installed it but I need to activate it.
