I'm having issues with MSCONFIG and REGEDIT not working. I can run them if I change the filenames. I also have troubles running Spybot SD and Ad-Aware SE. These programs seem to start for a second and stop. I also have issues with the computer rebooting sometimes if I go into Outlook or Internet Explorer. I just ran HiJackThis on my PC and here is what I got:

Can you do the following please

Redownload Hijackthis from my signature below and save it to it's own folder on your harddrive
ONLY run hijackthis from this new location

Afterwards
Download and save to your desktop MsnVirRem.zip
Once in place, right click the zip file and extract the files to your desktop. It will create another folder called MsnVirRem
DO NOT RUN ANYTHING IN IT YET

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list).  In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

In the new MsnVirRem folder, that you should have on your desktop, double click MsnVir.bat and let it run its course. A DOS window should pop up, Let it run until it disappears. It will take time to scan your machine.
After it disappears, [color=\"blue\"]reboot back into normal mode[/color], and post a fresh HijackThis Log.

I tried to run MSNVir.bat in safe mode and got and installation error. Here is the file it created on my desktop.

That error appears when you haven't UNZIPPED the file you downloaded
DO NOT run MsnVir.bat from within the zipped file you downloaded

I asked you do the following
Download MsnVirRem.zip to desktop and then unzip the folder within to desktop

Instructions to unzip a file or folder alternative
   1.  Double-click on the Zip file.
   2. It should expand automatically.
   3. A file or folder with the same name (without the Zip) should appear.
   4. Follow the prompts to extract to desktop, use the browse button if necessary
 
Then run the instructions exactly as posted earlier
Include both logs afterwards, which includes hijackthis

Additionally, you appear to be controlling entries on startup with MSCONFIG
Please don't do this until after we are sure you are clean

Go back to Msconfig
Under the General tab select Normal startup
Apply it and Close
Don't reboot yet, instead come back here and post a fresh hijackthis log

I switched MSConfig back to Normal StartUp, one other thing I have been doing was to actually kill processes in task manager on start up, I'm assuming you don't want me to do that.

I see you were controlling these 2 entries with Msconfig
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
You can disable them in a different manner

Sun Java>>Open The Windows Control Panel and double click to open the Java icon
Under the Updater tab uncheck Automatic updates

KernelFaultCheck:
Used in connection with memory dumps - you can disable these by - right clicking on My Computer selecting Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on the Settings button in 'Startup and Recovery'. In the bottom pane - under 'Write debugging information' - click on the down arrow and then select 'None' - OK your way out

I wouldn't disable your entry related to AntiVir, I'll leave that up to you

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm


After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis
Reboot the computer

Back in Windows
*If everything is running better
Final Cleanup
We should clear all your restore points to ensure you don't restore any nasties that may be sitting idle
    Go to START>>RUN>>In the open field
    Type in
msconfig
Click OK
Click the "Launch System Restore" button
On the Left hand side click on "System Restore Settings"
Put a Check in "Turn off System Restore"
Apply it and OK out of there>>Reboot your computer

Back in Windows, Go back and take the check out of "Turn off system restore"
This will reenable the System Restore feature and creates a new restore point

    *Will block bad ActiveX Controls
    *Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
    *Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer
After installation, Check for updates and then click the "Enable all protection"
"Check for updates every couple of weeks"
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"
                   
*Make sure your Anti-Virus software is always kept up to date and actively running in the background

*Check for updates with your anti-spyware programs and run a scan on a regular basis
In addition, open Spybot 1.4
Click the "Immunize" button on the left>>>OK at the prompt>>Immunzine at the top green cross
Please Immunize after every update

*Keep up to date on Windows updates
This is the most important step in keeping your system secure

*Make sure your Firewall is enabled and running
A Firewall is also very important
This provides a line of defense against someone who might try to access your computer without your permission
