hey guys... i\'ve just increased my cpu fsb from 133-->150.
but then it would just give me blank screen and i can\'t do anything about it. so i just resetted the cmos. but don\'t i have to increase the voltage also, in order to support higher fsb? so far, i have I/O voltage, and core voltage. and there might be one more kind of voltage. do you know which one should i increase? also, this is amd 1.4 gz. and it\'s 300 w case. i remember the core voltage is set at 1.75 and goes up to 1.100
does anyone know how much should i increase the voltage by?

here\'s an update info:
i have :
Vcore voltage = 1.750v
I/O voltage = 3.50v
DDR Vcc voltage = 2.65v
but i\'m not really sure by what each of these mean

Generally, Vcore is what you have to bump up to get more stability at higher speeds.  Do it in small increments and don\'t go too high.  Also note that this voids your warranty and could fry your cpu.  Probably won\'t, but just know that it could.

Hi there,
i did that.  i \'ve increased my fsb by ~5 which gives 138 fsb at 1.46 ghz if i\'m not mistaken. then i increased my vcore to 1.80 v.
as the result, my windows became unstable and couldn\'t read my network card (NIC). and i couldn\'t use the internet connection. then i immediately set everything back to default, and still didn\'t solve the problem. do you have any solutions to this? or i just need to uninstall win xp and install it back again?
ps:i\'m also running linux seawulf(red hat 7.1) and got the same error.

Hi!
The problem I used to have with overclocking is blue screen of death (win2k). but this happened only when I was installing it,  error was ...

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_MEMORY ...

NON_PAGED_MEMORY hinted me that ... BAD physical memory. I restarted a computer at lower FSB ... everything was fine.

and it happens when running Celeron 800 @ 150Mhz Fsb. when running  at 145Mhz everything was OK,  I was conviced that error was because I used LOW Quality memory,my be I will try CPUBurn to see the Real Limits.

My Idea is:
You increase FSB without increasing VCore Voltage first . And you increase voltage only when you get so many error related to nothing specific.

I heard that  
Some Mobo/processor are hard to overclock without increasing VCore, check out about that of yours.

Processors (like Celeron) are worth to overbussing because
they were made from High FSB processors.

There is also physical limitation of chips (CORE):
 

Celeron based on p2 was limited at 566Mhz,
 
Non Tualeron (Celeron with non tualatin core) running at 100Mhz are limited at 1200Mhz (may be that was the reason that my computer crashed )

Also cooling is very important... Room temperature is 34 celsius ---How much can I overclock?

Well winter is better for me to overclock..

well, i have athlon 1.4@ 133........and my windows just would be unstable eventhough i increased...to 1.80-1.85 from 1.75
just suddenly shut down..when i try to access some program, etc. the only time the screen went blue (for me) was when the first time i set the fsb at ~147 (i believe) without increasing voltage or anything else(first experience)...and luckily didn\'t get burned. then i had to reset the cmos and everything went back to normal.
my cpu fan right now is running @4500 rpm.with sk6 coppen heat sink.
any recommendation of a good cpu fan? i saw someone put a (quite big size) of fan on the heat sink. well, the shape is sort of like eclipse..hehe....don\'t really know about this..
but that might be a good one.

What are  Mobo and CPU temperature?

It seems like your fan is not powerful enough Athlon1.4Ghz must need a lot of cooling.

I have heard of some fans running at around 6000rpm. Mine is 5400rpm (it was for <1.2Ghz).

Try to find the higher RPM/better heat conduction  for your Athlon

Also
Try to relate MB & CPU temperature with Room temperature,

watch PCI bus speed as you are overclocking, this is problematic if you have low quality/unstable PCI Cards.

In General overclock require you to buy Good Quality Computer components.

what is mobo?
well, i got a sk6 copper heat sink, and 4,500 rpm fan.
maybe the fan is not good enough. do u know where to get the noice control silverado cooling?
heard that one is good.

Mobo means MOther BOard ... its temperature + that of CPU are very  important.

Because you are running Athlon 1.4G, and you want to overclock, I suggest you look for a CPU temperature and Motherboard temperature, And then decide if you would need to buy a new one

Let\'s say you wil be able to overclock to 1.6G, Then you would need to have a Fan rated to Athlon running at 1.6 or better higher than that.

Well, I do not know where to get Noise control\'s silverado, I use a cooler without a brand !!??,
