XP and Sound blaster Drivers
« on: December 11, 2001, 08:17:29 PM »
I have recently built a new computer for myself. A T-Bird 900 MHZ with an ABIT KT7A- Raid MB, 650 meg ram, voodoo 3 3500 tv tuner and  a sound blaster live x gamer (not 5.1)
I installed xp with the system. I am getting a popping sound through the speakers when ever I play music, movies or games. I went to window update and installed the new drivers for the card but it didn\'t help. I was told to go to creative and install the new xp drivers and that should fix the problem. The new drivers are an .exe Everytime I go to run the exe it freezes my computer totally. I ran it in safe mode and it ran smoothly however obviously you can\'t install sound card drivers in safe mode.
If anyone here has any suggestions it would greatly be apprecitated.

I never got it to run - you can open that file with winzip though - its just a self extracting zip. Then install the drivers through windows.
If that doesn\'t work you might want to look into disabling IRQ steering. Thats what fixed mine (board has a VIA chipset).
