Can we start by doing the following and then we'll look at the rest of the log later

Can I have you disable Norton's script blocking to ensure it won't interfere with this fix
To disable Norton AntiVirus Script Blocking

   1. Start Norton AntiVirus.
      If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.
   2. Click Options.
      If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
   3. In the left pane, click Script Blocking.
   4. In the right pane, uncheck Enable Script Blocking (recommended).
   5. Click OK.

Please leave it disable until we have this machine clean please

Download [color=\"red\"]VundoFix.exe[/color][/url] to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
with vundofix.txt and a new hijackthis log
Can you also
Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section>>Open Uninstall Manager
click the SAVE LIST button, save this list to the desktop, copy and paste back here the whole contents please

NOTE: Looking at your past records with hijackthis logs
I noticed you don't return to finish the cleaning
This I find very ANNOYING to say the least
My service is free and voluntary
At minimum, it would be nice for you to return and let us know how things are going or finish the cleaning!!

Reboot the computer afterwards

Back in windows
Download and Install Spybot 1.4 from
HERE
 or HERE

After installation--Click the UPDATE button on the left
SEARCH FOR UPDATES on the right
Check, and then download all updates
After update is complete
Click the "Search & Destroy" button on the left
"Check for Problems"---When the Scan is complete
FIX all selected promblems

RESTART the computer

come back here and post a fresh hijackthis log

NOTE: You have a few online poker games installed, some may have been unknowingly installed
If this is true or
If you don't use or need any of the following below, please uninstall them too from add/remove programs

Very sorry for the delay, we should do some final cleanup on this computer

*If everything is running better
Final Cleanup
We should clear all your restore points to ensure you don't restore any nasties that may be sitting idle
    Go to START>>RUN>>In the open field
    Type in
msconfig
Click OK
Click the "Launch System Restore" button
On the Left hand side click on "System Restore Settings"
Put a Check in "Turn off System Restore"
Apply it and OK out of there>>Reboot your computer

Back in Windows, Go back and take the check out of "Turn off system restore"
This will reenable the System Restore feature and creates a new restore point
Then go back to Internet Options in Control panel and Reset Web Settings again

Now would be a good time to do a Disk Defragment on the system if it hasn't been done in awhile
May be best done in safe mode
Could take awhile if your friend hasn't done it in some time

*Install  SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 by JavaCool[/url]  
    *Will block bad ActiveX Controls
    *Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
    *Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer
After installation, Check for updates and then click the "Enable all protection"
"Check for updates every couple of weeks"
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"
                   
*Make sure your Anti-Virus software is always kept up to date and actively running in the background

*Check for updates with your anti-spyware programs and run a scan on a regular basis
In additions
Open Spybot 1.4, click the IMMUNIZE button>>OK>>Immunize at the top green cross
Please Immunize after every update

*Keep up to date on Windows updates
This is the most important step in keeping your system secure

*Make sure your Firewall is enabled and running
A Firewall is also very important
This provides a line of defense against someone who might try to access your computer without your permission

+ *I noticed you have older versions of Java installed
You should access the following link
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
I find the
Windows (Offline Installation) the most reliable although it's a bigger download
Save the offline installer to desktop
Don't install it yet
Instead
Go into the Windows Control panel>>Open the Java Icon
Under the Cache tab>>Clear the Cache
Access the add/remove programs via control panel and remove
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

and any other older versions

Then go ahead and install the latest version, which will include security updates
