Office 2000 / XP Administrative Install
« on: December 14, 2001, 03:41:38 PM »
Does anyone out there know how to make it possible to perform an Administrative Install of Office 2000 Professional and/or Office XP Professional with an OEM CD?  I realize that this is possible with the non-OEM versions of 2000 as well as Enterprise versions of XP.  If it *is* indeed possible to do this with an OEM, I am sure someone here would know.

Thanks.

It shouldnt matter what type your office is. You can head over to my site for a walkthrough guide on administrative updates to Office 2k/XP.

Actually, it does matter.  This is from Q234804 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q234804):

SYMPTOMS
When you perform an Administrative installation of a Microsoft Office 2000 family product, you are not prompted for your company name or your CD Key. Also, you are not prompted for a location to place the Administrative installation, and the Administrative installation has been placed on your hard disk.

CAUSE
This problem occurs when you try to perform an Administrative installation from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) version of one of the Microsoft Office 2000 family products.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, purchase a retail copy of the Microsoft Office 2000 family product along with the appropriate number of licenses. You must have one license for each user who is using a copy of a Microsoft Office 2000 family product from an Administrative installation point.
