Unwanted double/triple clicks
« on: April 09, 2006, 05:39:09 AM »
Help, when ever im clicking on things sometimes my comp does double or triple clicks.
This is really bad in some cases and really annoying in others. Now im 100% sure this is a virus and not just a dirty mouse lol, because this has happened before i had it fixed from a program i downloaded but ive since forgotten about that program because i never though it would happen again.

Eg: what i mean is When you click once it might highlight a word witch makes it really hard to to certain tasks

And help will be appreaciated

I have a HijackThis log here:

Nothing that devious in your log
But you can do the following

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...rch/search.html

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...rch/search.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\bin\jusched.exe
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://bar.mywebsearch.com/menusearch.html?p=ZSYYYYYYYYAU

After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot your computer
Post back a fresh hijackthis log

Have you checked the Mouse Properties in the Control panel and set to your preference?

If you want to dig a little deeper to see if it is malware
Download and save WinPFind.zip
UNZIP the contents to your desktop
Don't run it yet

RESTART your Computer into SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Choose Safe mode from the startup menu and hit Enter

In safe mode
Open the WinPFind folder you extracted to desktop
Double click on WinPFind.exe
Select "Configure Scan Options"
Under Run Addon's on the right hand side
Put a tick in all the empty boxes then click Apply

Click START SCAN
Let this finish, a log will open so you will know it's done
Close out after

Reboot back to Normal mode

Back in Windows
Post the results of the WindPFind.txt located in the WinPFind folder

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

My control panel settings for the clicking speed is set in the middle as it always has been.

Also while i was in safe mode with WinPFind i clicked exit, that closed WinPFind & it's folder :/ so i dont think the fixing with HijackThis worked.

WinPFind Log was to big just to be copyed to the post & for some reason it won't let me attach it
(Only 14kb's lol)

WinPFind Log Link this just links to my old dead forums, Reason is so that you can view the log.

The link to WPFind
I would have to register to see it, I'm not about to do that  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

You can Copy and Paste the whole log in a reply

Do you remember what program you installed prior to the left clicking mouse problems?
Have you tried a different mouse to see it the problem persists?

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Do you have a program called Flash Creator installed or similiar
Can you scan this file please
Go to either of these links
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
or
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html

Use the browse button and navigate to this file on your hard disk
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\jesterss.dll<--this file

Right click on the file and choose Select
Then use the Submit button
Let it finish scanning
Could you post back the results of the scan back here please

Also, you didn't answer these questions
Do you remember what program you installed prior to the left clicking mouse problems?
Have you tried a different mouse to see it the problem persists?

How long have you had Windows Defender installed? About the same time the mouse problems started?
If this is happening in Opera web browser, are you running the latest version?

I dont think i have a flash program on my computer.
This has happened twice before and has been somehow resolved so I dougt its the mouse or a program i have installed.

Yes i do run opera i dont think its the latest version of it though -im acually using opera now to write this (but this problem occurs outside the browser aswell - even with it closed) I'll download the latest version now and see if that does anything.

About windows defender i think i installed it AFTER the first problem but it is installed this time around.

File:    jesterss.dll
Status:
MIGHT BE INFECTED/MALWARE (Sandbox emulation took a long time and/or runtime packers were found, this is suspicious. Normally programs aren't packed and don't force the sandbox into lengthy emulation. Do realize no scanner issued any warning, the file can very well be harmless. Caution is advised, however.)

Can you right click on  jesterss.dll  and rename it too  jesterss.dll.ren

See if it's ok to leave that way

Have you tried another mouse?

Your not sure about Defender
Have you tried shutting down defender and uninstalling it
Reboot the computer and see if the problems persist?

Any troubleshooting on your end???
