.tmp files
« on: April 26, 2006, 05:27:41 AM »
hi

I recently heard that .tmp files are unnecessary to the computer and therefor can be deleted. Is it ok to delete ALL of these file with the extension .tmp? And how do you do this?

Thanks.

It would not harm the computer in anyway if all the .tmp files are deleted, just dont delete the temp folders.And if ya want you could delete all your cookies,prefetched files.

If your uncomfortable with doing it yourself
Or even if you are comfortable with it, I enjoy this free tool

==Download and install Windows CleanUp! 4.5.1

Here's my typical instructions
==Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

    * Empty Recycle Bins
    * Delete Cookies
    * Delete Prefetch files
    * Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
When it's done>>Click Close

Afterwards, just don't log off and back on, but reboot the computer

NOTE: The above is using a Custom Cleanup
Personally, I have not saved no jobs I've done in a temp location or extension
If you feel comfortable that you have not also, as most do
Have cleanup do a Standard cleanup

Hold onto CleanUp!, it's yours for free
Run it every couple of weeks
