Please help with OHPE ver 4.12_23 problem

I am all of a sudden getting pop ups and have a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in my taskbar icons, with a pop up saying the following:

System Alert: Popups
Your computer is infected with spyware managing pop-up
Advertisements (OHPE ver 4.12_23)
Click the icon to learn more on what you can do about pop-up
Windows and other unwanted software.

I have already looked athe following post http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29472 but I came a cropper when it said "Open Ewido anti-malware"....I don't have Ewido anti-malware!

I have run Norton Internet Security 'LiveUpdate' but after restarting the laptop I can’t seem to run NIS to run a virus scan.  I have managed to run the following utility programmes:

Tune-up Utilities 2006
CCleaner
NoAdware
Windows Defender

Non of these has resolved the problem.

Ok, Ok....I have just realised that there is a free download of Ewido anti-malware.

I'll slope off and try and fix the problem!

I followed everything that was in the post http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29472

I didn't have any of the files that were listed after the instruction "Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:" but I carried on with the rest of the instructions.

Results

Well, the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark icon has gone, but I'm unsure if it has completely solved the problem.  My laptop is now very very slow, is there something I missed?

Let's try a more updated fix

Please download [color=\"red\"]SmitfraudFix[/color][/url] (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process.  A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process

Then please restart it into Normal Windows.  Please post the contents of the SmitfraudFix log located at C:\rapport.txt into this thread, along with the Ewido report and a new HijackThis log.
