Keyboard Error
« on: May 25, 2006, 04:48:10 PM »
Hi all! http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' /> I've had this computer for almost 2 years now and I normally leave it on... But that's not my problem LOL

I'm running XP Home... and when I power up from it being off I get a Keyboard error... and of course, my keyboard doesn't work. I have a wireless Microsoft mouse and KB. When I reboot it, then the keyboard works.

My mouse does work on the first boot up though. And if I happen to hit a keyboard key on the first boot up... it freezes.

Let me know what you all need to know http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Thanks!

Marc.

Re-loaded most recent driver (which was the one I was using) and it's still the same.   http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />

Batteries are fine... This problem just didn't occur all of a sudden, it's existed ever since it was delivered to me.

Have you thought about contacting Microsoft
Maybe a replacement is needed?

I wish you would post the exact keyboard error, etc...

The keyboard error would show in the DOS screen on start up... and said only that "keyboard error".

It seems i have found the problem....

I thought I'd put on a regular mouse and keyboard for a while so I disconnected the wireless stuff. Everything was good... when I reconnected the wireless mouse and keyboard I changed something... the receiver for the wireless mouse and keyboard has one wire that splits into a PS2 keyboard hookup and a USB mouse hookup. I had a USB to PS2 adapter because I was encouraged to free up the USB port for other things. So when I hooked it back up, I connected the mouse in the USB port instead and haven't had a keyboard error since!
