This.... spyware well it go away?
« on: May 29, 2006, 03:12:02 AM »
Ok, i just got a new hp pc and i found out it has spyware preinstalled.I downlaoded spybot and it found this spyware that's called Wildtangent and there's five entries.when i try to fix the problem i get this error.

Spybot-Search & destory spybotSD.exe-unable to locate component
This application failed to start because WDENGIN.dll was not found.Reinstalling the application mayfix this problem.

I think, i'm getting this error because i used HP recovery(not sysytem recover).

So..is there anyway i could get ride of this spyware?

From my signature below, download and save too a permanent folder of it's own
Hijackthis 1.99.1

Open Hijackthis.exe
Do a "Scan and Save logfile"
A log will open in notepad, can you copy and paste back here the WHOLE contents of the log please

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

How did you download Hijackthis  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />
Another computer, if that's the case
Save hijackthis.exe from the computer that has internet
Right click on it copy it too a floppy, usb thumbdrive or cdr+cdrw

Put any of the above media into the other computer
Right click on your desktop, click NEW>>Folder
A folder will be placed on your desktop, you just have to name it
Name it HJT

Go back to hijackthis.exe saved too the floppy, usb thumbdrive, etc...
Right click on it and copy and paste it too the new folder you created on desktop

Then do a scan and save logfile with hijackthis
Notepad opens with a log
Copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log back here

If the computer doesn't have internet, copy and paste the log back to a floppy, etc....
and post it with a computer that has internet access

NOTE: If the infected/troubled computer doesn't have internet access, let me know how your transferring
files or programs please
This will give me a good indictation of what I can get you to do, without internet access

Access your add/remove programs and remove Spybot 1.3
Reboot the computer when prompted

Back in Windows

Let's get you the latest version of Spybot which is 1.4
You can download it from
HERE
 or HERE

After installation--Click the UPDATE button on the left
SEARCH FOR UPDATES on the right
Check, and then download all updates
After update is complete
Click the "Search & Destroy" button on the left
"Check for Problems"---When the Scan is complete
FIX all selected promblems in RED

RESTART the computer if any Red entries were found and fixed

Post back and let me know if your still having problems
