I have read of the unattended installs with 2k and wondered if any of you had tried with XP, also I know you can get 2k to stop asking for the key by editing the setup.ini and wondered if something similar had been tried an succeeded with XP

Having some time on my hands I decided to test the unattended myself.  I extracted the deploy.cab in the support folder, onto my hard drive and ran the setup manager.  Answered all the questions including the product key, and all though the prompts still come up all the answers are filled in.  After seeing some debate about renaming the unnattended.txt to winnt.sif I put both in the I386 folder just in case.  So if your wondering it works like a champ.  I also did the same on a 2k install with the same smooth results.  However I never found an answer on the setup.ini question about changing the PID# to keep it from even prompting for the key, but the unattended text works just as well.  My thanks to Twinkie and the rest of the folks that have many informative tools on their sites it made this a lot less of a frustrating experience.

The PID# works differently in each version so far.
2000-Changing the last 3 numbers to 270 auto inserts the serial for you.  Not needed if using unattend (or winnt.sif)
XP-The first 5 numbers specifies what version the OS will behave like.  The last 3 numbers tell it which type of serial number it will take.
NT4-No feedback yet and since I keep using an unattend file I have not checked.  I know bad of me to post that on my website but technically the manual is still in draft builds.

I\'m glad it helped spyder and hope I keep helping some more people out as well.

Thanks,
Hope this Helps,

The answer file winnt.sif works properly for XP (single) bootable CD when unattended installation.
unfortunately, it was failed for Windows XP 2 in 1 CD if put the answer file into each I386 folder. but if use floppy, that would be ok.

By the way, It\'s mentioned that EZ CD Creator has been reported to have problems burning 2 in 1 CD on Twinkie\'s site.
but I was failed when used Nero 5.5.6.4 and successful when used EZ CD creator 5 platinum. It\'s strange.

yes it will just rename your unattended install file to winnt.sif and the same file works in 2000 and xp

Nero requires a regedit to stop putting a tag at the front of the CD.  That causes problems with a multi-boot CD.  I have updated my site to include this on the burning page.
Hope this Helps,
