Having Trouble With Sound
« on: June 26, 2006, 03:29:26 AM »
ok now i am having a big problem with the audio on my computer, my sound has went out i think in some sorts. like when i am on yahoo messenger i cant voice chat because its telling me this computer does not appear to have audio input capability, or it is not configured correctly. i did a trouble shoot to all my audio and video and it said everything was working properly. the only sound i can hear on my computer is the music in my media player . whenever i go to a site such as myspace, youtube.com or any site that plays music or have audio i cant hear it but i can see video perfectly i honestly dont know if its something wrong with my sound or what cause i can hear music in my media players but thats all that comes out of my speaker. even when i restart and start my computer i dont hear a noise when its going off and coming on.

Your log is not totally clean
Can you do the following please
Download and unzip to your desktop InstalledPrograms.zip
Double click on InstalledPrograms.vbs

Click OK at the IP prompt and click YES to view the results now
A text file will open, can you copy and paste back here the whole contents

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O2 - BHO: CIEObjectObj Object - {CA13D72F-2DAC-4D99-B08D-C5EA1C920E89} - C:\WINDOWS\IECodecPlg.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\ACE Mega CoDecS Pack\SystemS\RealMedia\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O16 - DPF: WebControlDeploy - https://grouper.com/v1/GrouperSetup.cab

After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot your computer

Find and delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\IECodecPlg.dll <-this file

Open your Windows Control Panel
Double click to open Sound and devices
Click the Hardware tab
Highlight Audio Codecs
Click Properties
Click Properties tab
Highlight DSP Group Truespeech if present
Click Properties

Select Use this Codec
Apply and OK out of there

Post back a fresh hijackthis log

Can I see a new Hijackthis log please

Also, do the following
Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box to notepad, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as mmdriv.bat

Save this file on the desktop

Code: [Select]
dir %Systemdrive%\MMDRIVER.INF /a h /s > files.txt
start notepad files.txt

Double click on mmdriv.bat
A text file will open, copy>paste back the whole contents

That file didn't save correctly
Do the following, from the bottom of this reply box
Download and save mmdriv.zip
Then unzip(Extract) the contents to your desktop so you now hav mmdriv.bat

Double click on mmdriv.bat
Wait for a text file too open and copy>paste the whole contents back here

If you get the same results
Manually look for MMDRIVER.INF in your
C:\Windows\System32 folder and let me know if it exists please
