some spyware
« on: July 09, 2006, 11:50:21 AM »
It's not too bad now, but I don't want it to get really bad or something... and popups are annoying.

I have norton internet security, and I think that kept it away. However, it kept on saying "something is trying to invade your comupter." Well, I clicked, "block every time." Found out that was the other computer I use for internet. Or... well, I'm on a laptop. I use a linksys to get internet access from the main computer in the house to this one. Now, since I clicked "block everytime," if the internet security is on, I can't access the internet. Woops. So I have to turn it off now to get on the internet, which makes it... useless! And I can't find anyway to unblock it either...

So, um, just need help getting rid of some spyware, and maybe getting norton to stop blocking my internet?

Also, the main computer has A LOT of spyware, so when I'm done getting this computer fixed, I'll probably ask for help for the other one.

Oh, I got my Norton to stop blocking my internet. So I hope that will help me from getting more spyware. But I still have to rid of the stuff I have!

I'm not see much for spyware/malware in your log

Can you do the following
Download and save WinPFind.zip
UNZIP the contents to your desktop
Don't run it yet

OPTIONALLY, Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know this year
Read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546I
You can optionally remove the following from add/remove programs
    * Viewpoint
    * Viewpoint Manager
    * Viewpoint Media Player

Optionally: Realplayers updater does not need to run on startup
To disable tkbell.exe in the new version (1) Start RealOne Player (2) Tools - Preferences (3) Automatic services in the Categories pane (4) Uncheck all options and then OK

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

If you removed any entries from add/remove programs related to Viewpoint
Tick this entry
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

Tick the next one related to RealPlayer
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

Tick the next if you previously had SpySweeper installed and have since removed it
O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

After you have ticked the above entry, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

RESTART your Computer into SAFE MODE
You can do this by tapping the F8 key as the system is restarting, just before Windows loads
Choose Safe mode from the startup menu and hit Enter

In safe mode
Open the WinPFind folder you extracted to desktop
Double click on WinPFind.exe

Click START SCAN
Let this finish, a log will open so you will know it's done
Close out after

Reboot back to Normal mode

Back in Windows
Post the results of the WindPFind.txt located in the WinPFind folder
