PC Slow and Cannot post

Can we try the following

Access the following link and save the latest Firefox installer
to desktop
http://www.mozilla.com/
Don't install it yet
Which reminds me, I have to update my version also  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

Access the following link and save the latest Java installer to your desktop
Sun Java
Click on Download under
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8
Accept the License Agreement
Select "Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language".
Don't install it yet

Access your add/remove programs and remove
Viewpoint Media Player
Mozilla Firefox (1.0.7)
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06

Reboot the computer
Install the latest version of Firefox from the installer on the desktop

Then install the latest Java
Once installed you can delete the installers

Try posting with the newest version of Firefox

EDIT>>I fixed the link to Sun Java

Also, when unistalling Viewpoint Media Player, got an error message that said possibly already uninstalled do you want to remove from list?  I said no for the time being.

Have not heard from you in over 24 hours?  Researching?

Installed Firefox update and Java can post here but not sign into some other sites that require registration.

Does this mean you can access those sites in IE?
Keep me informed

Can we also check your hosts file
Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section>>Open Hosts file manager
Click the "Open in Notepad" button
A text file will open
Copy>>Paste back here the whole contents please

Tried putting sites in trusted sites in IE - still cannot sign in.
Is there a way to enter trusted sites in Firefox?
Problem still exists in both browsers with same sites.

I'll snoop around, but I'm outta ideas at the moment
I can only think that some security software you have installed or cookie blocking software is interfering

As mentioned, you have had this problem before, how did you figure it out before?

This is a reach, is it possible to bring your computer box to a friends house and see if you can access those sites?
Like I said, I'm reaching
This is the best I can think of at the moment without trying to run a repair on your system
If you would like to try that route, I'll link you to an explanation of how it's done
It may not work, It's up to you at this point

Thanks for being honest and all your suggestions to date.  We were stumped before.  Actually when we had the problem before it resolved itself, one day we were able to sign on the sites, then about two months ago we could not, again.

I haven't really installed any new security software, just updated what I have.

Trying it somewhere else is not a bad idea.  If they do not have FIOS and it works would I deduct that it's the FIOS router?  .   If it does work somewhere else and with FIOS what does that tell us?

Go ahead give me the link for repair explantion and I'll look into it.

Thanks again.

All of a sudden we could access sites again.  Now, three weeks later, we cannot.  Wondering if you came up with any more ideas?

Or ISP related
I haven't came up with anything new
