does anyone have any sugestions of what bitrate to encode videos to gain the smallest file size, but keeping quality to a high standard. this is for moves recorded on my digital camcorder, that I want to give to my friends!

this is an avi on my machine pretty decent quality at about 4 mb per minute

352x240
15 frames per second
67kbps data rate
24 bit sample size
mpeg4 v2 codec

I should of made my posting more clear, I would like to know what bitrate I should use to encode at using Divx 5 :-)

Well I don\'t mate depends on like how bigu want the movie to be, but the way that I runthe divx is that 1000 + bit rate and I end up with a movie between 700-780mb and I use virtual dub to break it appart
