Connect Automatically won\'t

Running (sometimes walking, even crawling) W98 on an E-machine.  I use MS OE 5.0 for my routine E-mail biz.  During the \"Dial-up Connection\" dialog routine it remembers my user name and password OK.  Even though I always check the box to connect automatically, next time up it don\'t do it.  Anybody no a cure for this BOAB?
