Slow computer

I recently had some problems with my ISP, and I recently had to uninstall, and reinstall the application per ISP help desk, but since I've done that my computer has slowed considerably.  I really appreciate some help on speeding it back up. I have attached a hjt log below.  Also, my Norton Internet Security subscription expires in about 20 days. Is there a better security software that you can recommend?

Please supply an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Open Hijackthis>>Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents


NOTE: Since you reinstalled the software from SBC>>Yahoo
It probably also installed an Active AV running in the background

Having more than one AV running actively in the background can cause system slowdowns and instabilities
You may want to uninstall one, since Norton's is about to expire, it may be time to remove it right now

If you don't care for Yahoo's AV software (EZ Antivirus)
Let me know, we can set you up with some other free software if needed
But if you do like the new AV, you should disable or uninstall Norton's now

Check out Norton's website to properly uninstall your version of NIS

Post back a fresh hijackthis log afterwards, be sure to reboot the computer before you do

Sorry for the triple posting. Thanks for replying so quickly. I work from home on my computer and the slowness is really hampering my ability to get things done in an effective manner. Anyway, I went ahead and uninstalled Norton and I'll go with the Yahoo! software for now for internet security. If I find that I don't like it I may consult you later about other security software. I restarted the computer after I uninstalled Norton and when I enabled the Yahoo security. Here is the uninstall list from HJT as you requested.

Sorry,

No things aren't better. Computer still really sluggish. As a matter of fact, I logged onto my ISP just now and tried to ck my email, the computer just froze on home page. I waited 15 or 20 minutes to see if hour glass would go away so I could continue. No such luck. I ended up rebooting.

Can you also do the following
Download GMER from here:
http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip

Unzip it to the desktop.

Open the program and click on the Rootkit tab.
Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for ‘Show All’.
Click on Scan.
When the scan has run click Copy and paste the results (if any) into this thread.
