Overwritten webpage files?

When I tried to open some of my html files, there's a background behind my original file that shows an ad for some sort of search engine.  My original document is still on the foreground, but the same ad would appear in a multiple number of html files.  I wonder if this was a virus problem?  I have ran AdAware to try to clear out any ad programs.  Here's my Hijack this log:

Just on my way to work, in the meantime, can you do the following please
Please supply an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Open Hijackthis>>Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents

Did you have proxybar installed at one time
It looks as if you did and may removed it

Did you knowing install this program?
Sogou PXP Accelerator 1.2.2.5
It's been know to be installed maliciously and change browser settings

Print the rest of these instructions or save them too a text file on desktop
Close down all unnecessary programs running in the background
Ensure to close all Browser windows, including this one

Ewido Scan
  • Then run Ewido and click on the Scanner tab at the top and then click on Complete System Scan.  This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared.
  • Ewido will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. Ewido will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side.
  • Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As".  This will create a text file.  Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).
Reboot the computer

Come back here and post a fresh Hijackthis log and the full report from Ewido's please

I was wondering also that sometimes my internet connection just gets cut off, even when I was online already (that little icon that shows the internet connection on the taskbar suddenly shows us not able to connect, even though my palm is able to connect to my wireless network so I know it's not my network's problem).  After a while it'll be connected again.  Could this be due to a virus/adware?  Or maybe it's a hardware problem.....

Can you do the following please
Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Media Pass] C:\Program Files\Media Pass\MediaPassK.exe


After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot your computer
Find and delete this folder if found
C:\Program Files\Media Pass <-this folder

Can you do the following
From the bottom of this reply box
Download>>Save then UNZIP to your desktop
find.zip, so you now have find.bat extracted
Double click on find.bat
A dos window will open, do a quick scan and then a folder will be placed on your desktop called
'Files'
Open the Files folder, inside copy>>paste back here the contents of 'look1.txt'

 F-Secure Blacklight(blbeta.exe)

    Double click to run blbeta.exe
    * Accept the user agreement.
    * Click Scan.
    * After the scan finishes, click on Next, then Exit.
Do not rename any files if found by blacklight, I need to see the log

BlackLight will create a log on your desktop with the name "fsbl-xxxxxxx.log".

The BLBeta didn't find anything.  And I couldn't find the "MEdiapass" folder (I've chosen the "show all hidden files" and "show system files" option for the folder already)

Btw I posted the above posts from another computer.  My computer wasn't able to connect to my wireless network for a while until now so I had to transfer the log files between my 2 computers in order to post it.  Also since yesterday my computer's startup has been unbelievably slow.....@@......

Can you access your add/remove programs and remove
'Proxy Changer'

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer

Back in Windows
Delete look1.txt in the folder called 'Folder'

Also, In IE, click on TOOLS>>Internet options>>Open the connections tab
Under LAN settings ensure all boxes are unchecked
OK>>Apply out of there

Go to start>>run>>type in cmd
Hit ok
At the prompt type in the following below in bold then hit Enter on the keyboard

ipconfig /flushdns
Notice the space after g and before /

Type exit Hit Enter

Again, double click on
 find.bat
Post the contents of the new look1.txt and a new hijackthis log

I couldn't uninstall Proxy Changer....when I double click it in the "Add/Remove Programs" dialogue, something seems to pop up then disappear immediately.

And nothing was checked in the LAN setting in the Tools tab in IE.

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fix.reg

Save this file on the desktop
Ensure to copy from REGEDIT4 and down in the code box

My computer is starting up faster now, and so far I'm able to connect to the internet pretty quickly.  However, my original problem is still there (re: webpage w/ some sort of overlay ad- seems to be an ActiveX thing?).

It could be just offline content at this time
You can start from fresh
Open Internet Options in IE under TOOLS
Under the general tab delete Files and delete offline content at the prompt

Can you also do the following
Download this file - Combofix.exe and save it too desktop

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Can you post the log from combofix as well as a fresh hijackthis log please

I tried running that Combofix program, but then a message popped up from Norton Antivirus saying it's a maliscious script "C:\sUBs\enter.vbs"?

the newly saved webpages seems to be fine....

i just tried opening the source page of the infected webpage and deleted some of the codes that seemed suspiscious, then the IE shows as it blocking the "unsafe contents", but the background no longer appears.  I guess my computer was infected before but now it's fine?

Anywayz, my internet seems to open OK now, at least recently hasn't had any trouble.  Does my recent HJT log look OK?  Thanks a lot for your help!
